He walked past Cloud's room. Kidd then stopped and slowly backed up and knocked on the door. "Dad?"

Sin looked at him and finished his plate.
"Me and Ami got into a bit of tag. She was about to fall from a weak plating and when i spun around to go back and help her it happaned. I got it to face normal though."

Kadaj and Loz idled in their room. "How much longer have we gotta stay in here, Kadaj?" Loz whined, lolling back on one of the bunks.
"Until Tifa leaves the common area, I told you three times already!" Kadaj was getting testy.
"Since when do YOU care what that stubborn wench thinks, anyway?"
"Since we have to keep her calm if we want any peace on this ship whatever!" Kadaj slumped back against the wall. "She has no idea what's coming. If she doesn't learn better, she won't survive in the new world."
"Again, Kadaj, why do you care?"
"Because that woman is possibly the most frightening human being on this planet, that's why."
"Don't tell me you have a crush on her or something stupid like that."
"I won't because I don't."
Loz got a wicked look. "Kadaj has a girlfriend, Kadaj has a girlfriend..."
"I'm really not in the mood for this, Loz."

"Huh?" Cloud looked up. "Yeah, Kidd, come in." He tried clearing a path through the junk Tifa had thrown around by kicking sundry objects under the bunks.

"Hmm. Didn't know you were the valiant type, yo." Reno finished mending him. "Just for the record, yo... don't go expecting the girl to go head over heels, yo. She ain't easy. Not that I know from experience... I'm an engaged man, dude." He tugged at his collar in mock discomfort.
Rude just shook his head and kept eating. Ever since the hotel, his note had been missing... but he had his suspicions...

Tifa turned back to Kidd. Her tone was hard. "He should be in the bedroom, still feeling sorry for himself." She went back to hugging Marlene.
Marlene still didn't understand. "Tifa, please. I don't understand. Tell me what's wrong. What's the matter with Cloud?"
Tifa said nothing and held her tighter.

Kidd walked in and sat on an overturned chair. He turned off his MP3 player before speaking. "Know any good clothing stores?"

Sin laughed and shook his head.
"I don't even know why I did it. Impulse most likely. Anyways, bones sticking out of an arm and bleeding, most likely goiong to be infected unless treated within the next few hours, and all to save some chick... No way in hell I would do it with thought."

Cloud looked at the boy incredulously as he reclaimed his seat on the bunk. He smiled wanly. "If I were you, I wouldn't ask me." He sighed. "Tifa might know. But I have the feeling she is in no mood to talk."

Kidd laughed at this remark. "I'll ask here when I feel like a facelift eh? So... I know we haven't seen each other for some time so lets catch each other up. How's it been going?" He folded his hands in his lap.

"Dude, check yourself out, yo. Your arm is fine." Reno shrugged and wore a thingy grin. "Put up with a little mystic mumbo jumbo, and you get a great medical plan for it." His blue eyes were still vaguely tinged with a strange green light.
Rude snorted. "He was given access to healing power from the Lifestream. Aztar knows why. I guess the planet looks out for fools and children." He finished his food and picked up his plate. "If you really want to know why you saved Ami, ask Vincent. And good luck."

"Not good. Since you left..." He shook his head. "It's something even I can't explain. Something evil in Midgar. Not more evil than what we've seen before... just a different kind of evil. That's why I pulled Tifa and the kids out. I had to get them out of there until I could know for sure what I was up against. People say I'm brave, but only when I'm against something I know I can fight. I don't have to know I can win... just that I can fight. Well, now it looks like I've got something of that description to worry about. Too bad Tifa had to be it."

Kidd walked over and sat down by Cloud, nearly tripping on a pole, before speaking. "Cloud... Dad, don't worry. I know you can do it. You beat Kadaj, Loz, Yazoo, Sephiroth... you've beaten yourself. If you can overcome yourself than you can take on anything." He put his hand on Cloud's back. "And I'll always be here."

Sin put his swords and stuff in a corner of the infermary, and looked at his arm again.
I should learn some stuff. I am severly ignorant to many things. I couldn't begin to know how anything works. Hell, I remember a few experiments and tests, but nothing concrete since Wutai...

Cloud looked up at Kidd. Exactly who is the father supposed to be here, anyway? He smiled at him. "Thanks." He took a puch off his belt and got out his sword to sharpen it. "Seems we have time to kill. Feel like helping me clean this?"
