Amnesty softened. She grabbed a bag out of the small back compartment of her cycle and dug out some bandages. "Here, let me help with that..."

Squall sat watching her while she wrapped a bandage round his thigh. Christ Squall use your head! " Hold on a second..." Squall held his arm out straight infront of him and closed his eyes. "Cure!" green light left his hand and surrounded his body, slowly sinking into him. * Blinks* " I think that got it?"

Amnesty pulled back and blinked. "Hey, cool! How'd you do that? Was that materia?" Her cat-slit eyes were wide.

Squall looked at her, You dont seem to sure what it is? Squall stood up and stretched his leg, " Ive used materia but I dont like it, I was taught to absorb magical energy from monsters." He looked at her and sensed the confusion, " Dont worry its a foreign technique..." Squall stood up and looked at her, " I could teach you how to use materia if you like? I got some?"

Amnesty hesitated. "Umm... I'm not sure about that. My brothers messed around with that stuff a couple years back... and it really messed them up. But thanks anyway."
The Voice started nagging again. Learn to use materia... and take the energy of the planet to renew your power...
Amnesty gritted her teeth. Leave me ALONE!
Is that any way to talk to your mother?

Amnesty ignored the Voice as best as possible. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replied nonchalantly. "Just an old complaint, acts up every now and again. Anyway, we seem to be headed the right way, but we'd have to move at the speed of light to make my flight now. Don't worry about it-- I'll just tell the airline I wanted to trade my first-class for two coach. They'll be cool with that. From here, I gotta get to Nibelheim, then connect up with the highway. It's cake from there. Feeling better?"

" Ummm, I have a umm... craft... if you like, that could get you to midgar in no time? Im heading that way myself I could take you If you like?" Your gonna freak her out...

Amnesty looked woefully at her helmet. The wolf thing fight had all but cracked it in half. When she heard Squall's offer, however, her disappointment quickly faded.
"No kidding? Shoot, that'd be great!"
She hugged him. "Thanks a million!" She pulled back. "What're we waiting for? Let's go find that puppy!"
She tossed her broken helmet aside.

Ami grinned into the wind. Is this a nice guy or what? I mean, he doesn't even seem to care that I... well, look like the Nightmarette.
(OOC: Shall we move to the Nibelheim thread?)

They reached the mouth of the caves. Strangely enough, nothing had yet tried attacking them... Jared suspected they had scented him and his uncles and retreated to the caverns. "They'll be less shy when we're on their turf..." he mused quietly.
As if to confirm his statement, a monster loomed out of the caves and flung itself at him. He stepped aside and slashed at it without even blinking-- it lay dead seconds later. "Stay sharp, everybody."
He headed inside, the Angel Cry's energy blade glowing dully and lighting the way... Annie ignited a similar blade, the White Wave, and also illuminated the path... Joey shrugged and pulled a battered EMR out of her jacket.
Reno glanced at it. "A sucker for nostalgia, are we?"
Joey smirked. "You would know. You gave it to me." She picked up the pace and walked in stride with her sister, her ponytail twitching petulantly.
Reno put his arm around Nikky. "I think I'm starting to warm up to this fatherhood business." He grinned and kissed her cheek.
Ami shook her head, slightly warmed by the scene, but still more than wary of her surroundings... she subconsciously edged closer to her brothers as they went deeper into the stone forest of the caverns...
Yazoo made a small gesture and six Shadowcreepers sprang from the ground. They dashed into the darkness, and guttural growls, screams, rippings and tearings could be heard... Ami's stomach lurched. Yazoo reached for her hand. Easy, kid... they're nothing to be scared of.
Rude couldn't help but notice the children didn't even flinch at the sound of the monsters being mauled. These are not children. These are miniature soldiers. Rufus, if you could see what you've done to your own son...

nikky leaned into him slightly. ''i'll need to start researching now.... cuz as of right now... i'm a sh*tty parent...'' she laughed.
kamen watched and made a slight wince at the shadowcreepers... the memories of his last encounter with them were not pleasant. he watched the children and then the others before sighing. his sheild left a faint wall around all of them, they couldn't touch it and could barely see it...

Jared connected himself with the mountain and felt the pattern of the caverns... he discovered a large chamber with thick walls, behind a bottleneck passage... "Perfect." He zeroed in on the chamber's location. The shadows all but obscured it... The troops would miss it if they weren't led by any telepaths. Xima and Jenova engineered them to rely on their leadership... She remembered her words to me about slavery. The combined forces of Rufus' military threats and training, Xima's mysticisms and family traditions, and Jenova's mental manipulations and genetic tampering finally produced strong, fast soldiers docile enough to take orders. That was always a sticky point between the General and the rest of my family... he felt it was something of a gentle betrayal, but he had struck his deals and made his decisions, so he was ready to accept the consequences... at least for the time being. No doubt he would have killed off all the others if he'd thought he had the ghost of a chance.
Jared motioned to his red-headed friend. Joey probed inside... no living presences were lurking in the chamber, waiting for them. "It's clear."
Only two party members could get inside at a time. Joey dropped back as Jared and Annie moved in side by side. She couldn't help an irrational access of jealousy. She shook it off as a moot point. Sheez, I know he's six years older than me... but my parents had a seven year spread between them. Still, it feels a lot bigger at eleven and seventeen. She sighed. Even if I were older, there's no time for me to think about stupid stuff like that, anyway. I don't get to be a kid, much less a silly little girl with a crush... not since the third raid.
She waited by the other side of the bottleneck for her parents to catch up. I missed having a mom to talk to about all this stuff... and now I've got one again for better or worse. She hung around them for a while, trying to pretend it was the days before the war... if she didn't look at them too hard, it was easy.
Annie opened the antimatter pouch and dumped the supplies on the floor, letting the magnetic field disintegrate. "Let's set up shop, guys."
Jared pulled the Tears of Heaven, which Kamryn had left at the ship, out of the pile. He also got a vial out of his back pocket, a vial with some very potent poison in it. "I always carry this in case they take me alive. It disintegrates tissue at the genetic level... all the rebels have a bottle of this stuff so their undead selves won't be used against their allies." He got some of the water he'd brought and formed one of the sheets of metal into a bowl shape. "But when extremely diluted, it makes great material for trank darts." He poured in the vial along with several gallons of water. He gave to to Joey to mix. "Don't let this stuff get on your skin. Annie, start hollowing the needles."
Annie concentrated, pulling the acid out of the bullets and putting it into one of the empty water flasks. When the solution was ready, she began putting the tranquilizer into the casings and reloading them into the Tears of Heaven.
Jared took the remaining metal sheets out towards the cave entrance. "These will look like fortifications... but they will become holding pens."
"Holding pens?" Ami didn't get it. "To hold what?"
"Monsters," Jared replied promptly. "We're going to turn our enemies on each other."
Kadaj smiled. "I like the way you think, young man."
He shrugged. "Thanks. But I can't take all the credit... this was actually one of your ideas once. At risk of paradox, I won't elaborate further."
He started fashioning the cages, disguising them as barricades within the caverns. Ami covered him, just in case any monsters decided to attack too soon. Her brothers, each armed with a trank gun (or by Shadowcreepers, in Yazoo's case) started prowling through the caves, looking for monsters to capture...
The girls began to inspect and clean their arsenal, as methodically as any soldiers would. Reno had always been a little clumsy at that, but he pitched in anyway. "So where'd you girls get your training, anyway?"
They shrugged. "Mostly Ami and Rude, actually. Our godparents."
Reno nodded. Makes sense. "What about me and your mom?"
They smiled. "You guys didn't want us fighting, even when we were just doing it for fun. You two said you'd had your share of minor wars and didn't want us sucked into it, too. But we didn't have much choice."
Rude began setting up the supplies and inventory, placing lamps and storing the stock. "We aren't equipped for a seige. What exactly does Jared expect?"
Fruxas stayed near Tseng, nearly unnoticed in all this confusion. It was all way over his head... Why am I fighting my own family? He looked around at the heroes, suddenly less sure than ever that he wanted to trust them. I would never turn on my mother and father, if I had a chance to see them again. I must have been forced to do it.
