She switched her blade to her free hand and blocked, pushing against him stubbornly. Inferior breed or not, there was no denying he was stronger than she, especially now that she was forced to use her weaker hand, and she only had limited time to free her hand from his vise-like grip. "Horus, shoot him!"
Horus watched her darkly. He powered down his plasma cannon and did nothing.
"Horus!!!"
He turned away.
Isis' eyes widened as the Masamune inched closer to her...

Sephiroth grinned like a tiger and wrapped his paw of a hand around her slender throat, squeezing as hard as he could. "You see? Not even your own kind can stand you... Your nothing, Patran..."

She rasped for breath and frantically worked to pry his hand from hers... She could not risk taking the Toxic Lotus away from the Masamune, but neither could she pull his paw away from her air passages with only one hand... She felt herself getting dizzy... Shw worked her fingers between his hand and her throat... she looked beseechingly to Horus... "Broth...er..."
He ignored her.
She kicked desperately at Sephiroth's legs.

Sephiroth ignored her pitiful fits of response... he just glared into her eyes. Then crushed her throat.

With a final desperate squawk, her body went limp in his hand, silver hair falling over his face.
Sephiroth felt something cold pressed hard against his back. "Thank you for freeing me from her. But gratitude only goes so far." The cannon began charging up again.
Barely a foot from Sephiroth's hand, a large red sensor quietly blinked, locked under a clear plastic cover...

Sephiroth's eyes glanced behind him, he didnt move... Save for his free hand, which simply shifted a bit, driving the tip of his blade into the other Patran's collarbone and making his arm go into spasms. Sephiroth then flung the body right into him, sending them both flying to the wall.

Horus lay there bleeding, a gaping hole in his ribs, his sister's dead body pinning his legs. He pushed past the immense physical pain, raising his heavy weapon on his right arm inspite of the pain that shot through his back and chest, the resulting gush of blood. His breath rattled slightly as blood leaked into his lungs. "The only way out takes you right past me. I'd put so many holes in you by the time you got out..." Horus was forced to stop and struggle for breath. "...that if you survived to make it out, you'd die before your next breath..."
A strange scent entered Sephiroth's nose, and a message seemed to echo through the dark chambers of his mind... "Sequence prepared for initiation... please press red sensor..."

Sephiroth looked to his left, spotting the glowing red button. "Your right..." He said as he grinned at Horus, then in one fluid motion leapt to it and slammed his palm down on the sensor.

The nerve center pulsed with energy, all leading up to the very tip of the seed-shaped craft... a shining green mako crystal rose from the ruins of the shield generator...
A loud thrum filled the ship, and a memetic pulse pummeled into Sephiroth's mind so forcefully that it knocked him to the ground.
Statistics on the planet... native plant life, availabilty of water, minerals, etcetera... and above all, a message in a hauntingly familiar voice.
Abandon they whose leadership led to your ruin... join us to build a new future on a world of our own...
The regal... no, imperious voice of Patra, the High Matron of the Patran tribe.
Horus laughed, even as he winced under the deluge of information. "What were you thinking, Jenovan? That the sensor was a self-destruct mechanism?"

Sephiroth smirked again. "No Patran... I knew exactly what it would do. I just enjoy killing your kind so much that I thought I'd put out some fly paper."

Horus coughed up blood. "Too late, Jenovan. We are the last..." He paused to wheeze. "Look around you... Do you know what this ship is?"

"If you care to spend your last moments of life explaining, then do so..." He said, grinning.

Horus wheezed again, his breathing obviously a difficult labor now. "You'll never know... my mother's... secret..."
Horus raised the plasma cannon at the nerve center behind Sephiroth. But at the last moment, his hand faltered. The cannon landed on the floor with a heavy clunk. The nerve center pulsed serenely, completely unscathed.
Horus never moved again.

Sephiroth tossed Horus against the bulkhead of the ship and shook his head. "Such a waste..." He said, kicking his head a bit as he passed.

The signal continued to beam away, hundreds of thousands of lightyears in every direction.
The nerve center began to blink and pulse more rapidly. Steam billowed and the murky stasis tubes began to clear as chemicals were mixed, exchanged, replaced. Bizarre plants, strange animals, a veritable menagerie of alien lifeforms were revealed in each, still slumbering as they had for what had been to them only a few years, but several millenia outside relativistic velocity. Silvery creatures plated with tough armor, coarse and bushy-furred Moogles with no wings, eyeless fish, deathly pale amphibians, dark-coated predators with cat-like eyes, bulky Chocobo hatchlings with feathers more like sheet metal than filament, ground hugging vegetables with seed pods dotted by tiny phosporescent lights, luminous saplings, clinging vines with tiny, tiny leaves, colorful mosses... the list went on and on. Odd as the creatures were, they seemed strangely familiar.
And after Horus' body impacted the bulkhead, a small plate slid aside to reveal a set of tubes, each marked with a double helix...
A pungent scent pierced Sephiroth's nose. A voice sounded from behind him. "Memetic signature detected."
A silver-haired woman in white stood behind him. Her eyes were solid black.
