Ami could barely see. She kept her back to the wall, gauntlets in guard position. The throbbing in her head slowly died as the signal cycled to extinction... "D**n it..."
She felt broken glass against her back. The case she'd slammed against had splintered... and a dull glow was gathering strength inside it. The seedlings were becoming more luminescent by the moment as they revived from stasis.
The light glanced off a shock of silver hair, and Ami stabbed into it with all her might.

Jared felt his head clear. "They did it!"
Hope babbled in agreement. In an instant, she began to wail again.
Jared realized he'd fallen into a fetal position a few moments later. The signal... again? But how...
No. That's not the same signal.

Cloud had gotten his sword back into his hands and had returned to his attack, every blow full of killing intent.
Kadaj stubbornly remained on defense. Cloud's agitation increased by the second. "Fight me!"
Kadaj calmly blocked his blow. "S***w you."
"Fight, d**n it!"
Cloud hacked away, more blinded by rage every second. He lunged at Kadaj, who merely ducked smoothly under the attack and let him go face-first into the dirt.
Cloud spun around, expecting to find the boy waiting for another blow. His blade hit him in the leg, stopping only when it hit bone.
Only after this did he realize... Kadaj wasn't paying attention. He was staring blankly into the distance instead. His sword hung loosely from his hand, and fell to the ground.
"We're too late. They're already here."

Yazoo strained against the weight of the door as it gradually crushed him. Unlike other pressure doors on this world, this one was designed for people of his strength and endurance. Not all the strength he could muster would push it back...
A metallic hand clamped on the wall of metal, denting it. The gate began to move, letting Yazoo slip out, holding a broken rib.
"Vincent?"
The cybernetic prosthetic kept pushing the gate back until it whined in protest and emitted a shower of sparks. It ceased its attempts to advance any further. "Don't thank me yet. Where is Ami?" He grabbed the Cerberus and set the hammers.

The tentacles released Xima's arms, and she slumped to the floor. Blood was draining out of the corner of her mouth, and her breathing was shallow. Her voice was a hollow wheeze. "All for nothing..."

"OOF!" Loz took the impact hard as he landed on a rock. "That's gonna leave a mark..."
He looked down at his knee. "Well, s**t."
He got back up, his weight on the other leg as blood drained. He knew very well that without weapons or mobility, this could very well be his last stand...
A blue and red blur plummeted from the trees, landing directly between him and the Turk. "Roland Tseng, desist hostilities or prepare for maximum resistance."
She looked about ten years old, with short red hair, a pair of laser sabers, and a blue combat suit. The infamous Shelke Rui, super-warrior and ultimate cyberpunk.
"Series Six Prime, I am here for your protection."

Sin continued to rush forewords, having lost sight of everyone. The sun was starting to rise behind him, and he could just make out Tseng and Loz. He started to leap across boulders as he climbed, eventually digging his hands into the rock gaps and climbing up the ridge. He swung his legs over, and examined both bodies. Tseng looked like he had recieved a cement brick to the face, and Loz was nearly missing a leg and his arm was messed up badly. He waited for Yuffie to catch up, while he tried to see what was happening higher up the mountain.
[Too, both wounded and dazed guys, laying on the ground trying to get up and beat on eachother some more, it is basically just ecellerating what was alredy going to happen.]

A pair of blades came flying out of the forest at sonic speed, knocking the giant buster sword away from Kadaj. The blades instinctivly went back toward the trees as A black blur flipped out of the tree tops. It landed with a black scarf billowing in the wind. A hand reached up pulling down the scarf, revealing the young warrior. "Shinra!" He let the scarf go as it popped back to it's original postiong over the mouth. He stuck up his right hand a blade returning, then jumped into the air kicking the other blade toward Tseng.

Rufus hurried back to his wife, freezing in his tracks upon seeing her form lying on the floor. "Xima!" He shouted, running to her side and lifting her up into his arms. "Hold on, please just hold on..." He said, picking her up and carrying her away quickly. "Too many unfriendly faces around here... The neighborhood has gone downhill..."

Sephiroth bashed through a bulkhead door with two shoulder-thrusts and stepped out into the daylight, looking around for someone to kill... And he spotted Vincent...

Tseng leveled his weapon at the enemies before him. "Step back from me and my family or else this is going to get very messy..." He said, pulling a grenade belt from his coat.

Shelke's blue eyes glowed orange. She leveled her daggers in defense position at the cornered Turk.
Loz tried to step forward. "YOUR family?!"
Shelke blocked him. "Compromise is not a sign of weakness."
Loz froze. Where had he heard that before?
Shelke continued. "It is an indication of sanity." She sprang at Tseng, racing towards him at superhuman speed. At short range both his weapons would become useless...

Xima moaned quietly as Rufus carried her away. Her already cracked mind felt like it was fragmenting. The whirlwind of memories perpetually in her head, creating the white noise that was the background of her consciousness, started falling into random clumps... lifetimes blurred into lifetimes, light into darkness... her eyes were open but she saw only darkness... a faint, pale blur where she estimated her mate's head to be...

Vincent felt eyes locking onto him. He turned and found Sephiroth waiting for him.
Instinctively, he did something he never would have by thinking about it. He shoved Yazoo aside, out of the line of fire, leaving him groaning on the grass as his broken bones took the impact. Time went into slow motion as Vincent fired, all barrels blazing as Sephiroth approached.

Ami saw light pouring in through two openings in the ship and found herself alone as the mist cleared. "S**t." She looked around in a frenzy to figure out which group needed support the most...
She spotted Rufus high-tailing it down the hill. "HEY!" She went into total pursuit mode.

Kadaj cringed as the blade retreated from his flesh, going to one knee. Cloud was forced to scramble for his blade. "Kidd, you have officially lost your mind!"
Kadaj saw the Shinras escaping, his sister in hot pursuit. Don't try to take them alone, Ami...
No time, Kadaj!
He groaned and began to limp-run after them.

Sephiroth dodged at lightning speed, avoiding the hail of gunfire coming at him. As he sprinted towards Vincent, he slid across the ice-covered ground and kicked Yazoo up off the ground right back into the line of fire. As Vincent peeled off the attack to avoid shooting his pseudo-teammate, Sephiroth kicked Cerberus from Vincent's grip, elbowing him in the jaw right afterwards.

Rufus knew someone was following them, but he couldnt stop, he simply picked up speed, trying to put distance between himself, his mate and that damned ship...

Tseng caught a glimpse of Rufus and Xima running from the ship and didnt waste a single second. He whipped the grenade band at his attacker, smashing it across her head before yanking out several of the pins and firing wildly to cover his retreat.

Geez and cripes, he's fast! Ami's training could barely match their resilience...
Kadaj, still slowed by his injury, matched pace with her. "And you say I'm the crazy one!"
Ami kept moving, her gauntlets still open and ready for action. "I doubt even he's dumb enough to stop for a potshot at me! And what are the odds he'd actually hit?"
"I don't know. What are the odds you'll die if he does?"
His feet suddenly went out from under him as he hit an icy patch in the snow. Propelled by gravity and a stream of surprised expletives, he found himself sliding past the fleeing tyrant. He made a wild slash at his ankles as Ami continued her pursuit from behind, steadily losing ground.

The force of Sephiroth's blow was staggering, and Vincent reeled, trying to regain his balance.
ZIPZIPZIP!
Sephiroth felt three bullets lodge into his shoulder from behind, and two melee pistols trained on his ribcage, held by a quiet but fatally stubborn mass of black and silver, half-sprawled on the snow. Yazoo was down, but far from out.
Vincent recovered himself as the young Remnant covered him and aimed a mighty fist at Sephiroth's jaw.

Shelke knocked the grenade belt away with her laser daggers and blocked most of Tseng's shots, her arms moving so fast that they blurred.
Loz recognized those explosives-- only a four second timer. He lunged clumsily for them and tossed them over the ridge, awkwardly pushing Shelke down for cover...
BOOM!
Rock fragments and obliterated trees flew.
Shelke blinked. "Series Six, you are crushing me."
He backed up. "Sorry."

Rufus saw him a split-second before he would have lost his feet and leapt into the air, landing hard in the snow and sliding down the embankment as well. As they slid, Rufus pulled his automatic pistol from his jacket, firing at Kadaj as he slid out of control, shouting with satisfaction as a bullet struck him in the shoulder. After a moment, Rufus dug his dagger into the mountain, slowing down enough to get back to his feet, carrying Xima quickly towards the transport, Ami still on their trail.

Little did they know, Tseng was hot on their trail as well, he saw Ami ahead and jumped onto the patch of ice unveiled by the pursuit, foot-surfing straight down in order to match their pace. He heard the explosion behind him, seriously doubting he'd taken either of them down for long, but it was still satisfying to hurl explosives at them...

Sephiroth took the punch to the jaw, allowing the pain from the bullets to melt with the burning rage inside him. Sephiroth spun around with the force of the punch, diving away from Vincent and tackling Yazoo and lifting him up off the ground. Blood poured from the bullet wounds he had taken as he did, but Sephiroth ignored them, hurling Yazoo with all his might straight down the mountain toward the jagged rocky path below.

Vincent barreled blindly into Sephiroth's back, sending them both tumbling down the mountainside... the world became a funhouse of dirt, snow, and sky that couldn't quite decide which way was up... His body began to generate a red aura, and his form began morphing as they plunged...
Yazoo, meanwhile, felt something inside him crack unnaturally as his body bounced off the trunk of a tree. His head smacked too hard against a very large rock, and the world went black.

Kadaj yelled with pain and grabbed his shoulder reflexively. His focus lost, he tumbled gracelessly from the icy path onto the more powdery snow a few feet away, getting a mouthful of ice and dirt for his trouble.
Ami was forced to leapfrog over him as she kept running after her nemesis. She felt warm stickiness on her hand... her brother's blood. She wiped it off on her outmoded Turk jacket, kicking up snow as she ran.
The snow gave way to dirt as the forest cover became more dense, but she had lost so much ground... the copter was dimly in sight already, and her lungs were on fire. What I would give for a gun...
She searched her pockets. Nope, no such luck. Just the clumsy old EMR that looked more like a cattle prod. S**t.
Kadaj saw Tseng coming down the ice sheet and rolled almost suicidally into his path. Keeping a grip on his sword was impossible as they both slid out of control...

Sephiroth began cackling insanely as they tumbled down the hill, then he unfolded his wing, yanking himself to the side and flipping into the air to land on his feet again, watching as Vincent morphed. "I always liked this part..."

Tseng tumbled over Kadaj, rolling uncontrollably down the hill with him as the dirt made the decent slower... but much more painful. He'd caught a glimpse of the chopper ahead before falling.... The kids... Tseng began firing into the air, hoping to alert Jared of their approach.

Rufus saw the chopper, his lungs burning as it drew nearer. Without warning, Rufus dropped, doing a baseball-style slide forward and pulling his gun out again and laying on his back, firing at Ami behind him before she could react, perhaps these enhanced reflexes were more useful than he'd thought...

Vincent's form twisted and transitioned... A wing propelled him from the steep slope, launching him into the nearest tree, where he perched darkly...
He had taken on the form of Chaos. One ragged wing still unfolded behind him like a banner, fluttering in the cruel mountain winds. One arm was still dominated by golden claws... while the other sported a disproportionately enormous chrome monstrosity, covered with all kinds of sharp and unfriendly edges. It looked like a metallic cross between a mace, a plasma cannon, and a briar patch. So this is the union of technology and Chaos...
With a feral growl, he launched at the creature his sins had permitted into this world, throwing the weight of his terrible limb before him.

The kids in the chopper heard the fight approaching. Jared pulled his crossbow closer and crouched beside the entry hatch as his sister screamed.

Ami held her gauntlets to block the attacks, still rushing pell mell forward. She felt a bullet scratch her thigh, and red blood flew behind her in droplets... she whirled out the EMR directly into a bullet's path and hurled it at the fleeing Shinras with all her might...
The unstable weapon landed barely a few feet away from them and exploded violently.

Sephiroth did not even flinch as the beast rocketed towards him, he simply flipped his blade around and arched it, launching himself right at it and letting the full length of his sword slice right across Chaos' back as he sailed over it.

Vincent/Chaos roared in pain as the blade sliced flesh...
But something else was waiting for Sephiroth to take the cue Vincent had given, and it plummeted off the mountainside overhead to join the battle.
A rush of wind and a painful slash at the back later, Sephiroth was knocked face first into a tree trunk. Cloud landed in a crouch directly behind him.
Vincent had whirled in midair on the Nightmare... the extra weight on the arm made his turn more awkward and difficult, and he skidded to an unsteady stop in the dirt. His eyes glowed dangerously.
Cloud, relatively unscathed compared to any of the other combatants, assumed attack position. "I guess nobody ever told you it's not nice to pick on your little brothers."
Overhead, Loz had recovered the Cerberus and was lining the sights. "Could'na said it better myself, Blondie."

Kadaj and Tseng finally skidded to a stop. Kadaj rose from the pile-up to discover a disjointed finger. He sighed. "I just hate it when this happens..." He yanked it back into place with a sickening crack. "Mmm... that was refreshing."
His sword lay embedded in the ice some fifty feet back up the icy hill. "Hmm... unarmed, am I... this should be interesting..." He smiled disturbingly at Tseng and tackled him, fighting tooth and nail for the gun.

Tseng knew he didnt stand a chance against Kadaj... or any of the brothers for that matter... least of all in his injured state, so instead of wrestling for control of it, he simply squeezed the trigger, firing the gun off right next to Kadaj's head until the clip was completely empty, then slammed it into his opponent's temple, which was already pounding from the signal AND the gunfire next to his ear.

Sephiroth grinned at each of them. "So many attempts and you still think you can kill me..." He said, chuckling. Without warning, Sephiroth bounded up the mountain, using all the speed he could muster, darting right for the Patran ship once again. He'd been preparing for this moment since the signal had been initiated...

Rufus and Xima toppled to the ground as the explosion knocked them off their feet, but they were SO close to the chopper...
