Blood appeared on the thingpit behind Squall. He began looking around for his sword. He picked it up, startling Squall. "Where are the others?...Akira's in there with Lutz. He's lost it again."

Lana yanked her hand back with a gasp. A demon!
She ran back out to the square to find her sister. "There's a demon in the prison with the wolf guy!" Lana exclaimed.
Almost everybody in the square heard her and turned to stare. Ami facepalmed herself. Try explaining THIS to parents.
"Stay RIGHT here, Lana... don't go ANYWHERE."
Ami raced for the jail. "Come on, Rude, let's go!" He readjusted his grip on the Sacrifice.
Reno watched them take off blankly. I don't care.
The itch started up at the back of his head. I SAID I don't care! If it hadn't been for... whatever this is, I might have been in time to help Nikky.
It started stinging. He stubbornly stayed put.

Ami leapt over the rubble and cleared it, landing in the cell. "Get away from him!"
This distraction was all Rude needed to open fire, set on Chaos matter transference setting. He started to seperate the Chaos cells from Dark Akira's body...

Lutz rose his head to see Akira the Anger...the new Sin, taking Jin'Roh's place. He glared at the new demon he was no longer the Akira he could trust.
Lutz: "I suppose I will stay here, because you know as well as I do that I could create fire hot enough to melt through these chains...I choose to stay lockedup so I don't hurt anyone else! Sinner...."
Lutz movedhis head away from Akira and noticed a small female hand quickly removed itself from the jail cell window.
Who was that?
He looked back at Akira.
Lutz: "Yes....like an animal....I suppose its for the best..."

"You are not a savage animal, Lutz," Ami insisted. "You are my friend. Don't let your dark side win."
Ami kept her remaining short sword at ready as Rude kept his weapon firing at full strength... but again, it seemed to be having little effect. "What the h**l is WRONG with this thing?!"
"Cut the stream, Rude!"
Ami swung her sword at Akira. "You were my friend once, too... I don't want to do this, but if I have to make a choice between one friend and all my others..."
Rude charged over to his shackled ally. "Is there something about this business you know that I don't? I couldn't make it stop leaking Chaos matter, and now it's making no impact at all."

Lutz looked over at Rude.
Lutz: "I don't know why its not working, but maybe it doesn't hurt Chaos because your weapon is ment to take chaos matter away from its victoms....But as you can see each time you use it or a Sin is killed the Chaos matter returns to where it came from....me it can take away chaos cells they are mine or I would die."
Akira stood motionless staring at Lutz.
What is this guys problem....
Lutz: "Ami you and squall are my best friends and its to dangerous here....Leave me locked up its safer this way me and Akira will just have alittle chat..."

Ami withdrew, keeping her sword trained on her opponent. "No, Lutz. I am your friend, and I will not let you face this alone. I won't let this... parody of Akira hurt you... If you think he's here for just a 'little chat', you have to be out of your gourd. You didn't see what he did to Fort Condor."
Rude signaled silent accord by standing with her. All those abandoned civilian vehicles... all that blood... No way am I going to let that incident repeat itself here.
He took off the Sacrifice and put it aside. If this thing refuses to do any good... He balled up his fists and took on an offensive position. Then I'll just have to go about this the old-fashioned way.
They waited for Akira to make a move.

He never did. In fact, he disappeared at precisely that moment.
Ami gaped for a moment and shook her head. "This b**es."
Rude resumed an at ease position. "We may have difficulty convincing the villagers this was not an attempt to help him escape, considering the circumstances."
Ami looked around. "This really DOES look bad, doesn't it?"
"Let's clear out of here, Amnesty. All we can do for now is return to the meeting... and hope Sunset's influence will be enough to get us out of this mess."
Ami turned to Lutz. "It's breaking me up to leave you here, but the only way to determine we're innocent is for you to stay."
She hugged him. "Take care, my friend. We'll have you out of here soon, I hope... and when we do, we must figure out a way to stop this Chaos once and for all."

As Ami silently rejoined her family and waited for the hammer to fall, Rude approached Reno, who was sulking and kicking rocks. This is the first time in fifteen years I've gone into anything without knowing he'd be right behind me.
"Whatever you got to say, Rude, save it," Reno cut him off. "I've got to beat this thing. Nobody makes a monkey outta me, yo."
Rude only stood there, watching him.
"And don't give me any c**p about 'destiny' or how this thing isn't my enemy or whatever," Reno continued. "This is my life and I'm gonna live it the way I want, not the way some kind of embryo mystic says I should, all right?"
Rude continued to say nothing.
"And if you think for even a second this is just because of Nikky getting kidnapped-- well, that is part of it, but I was already p***ed about this mess before she got taken, OK? I just want to find her and try to resume some form of a semi-normal life, all right?" Reno was getting increasingly agitated.
Rude remained impassive.
"Oh, don't gie me that attitude, d**nit!" Reno stormed off.

kamens strength was slowly comming back. he lingered on by himself. he didn't feel a part of the group... even though he wanted to be. he sighed and looked over at them sadly before looking off into the distance. the more his master called him.... the more he felt alienated and rejected.... the more going back sounded like the better option.
he tested his strength by manipulating a rock... he wouldn't dare try on a person. he lacked the strength and.... he didn't want to be tossed aside or killed....
the rock bounced and floated about. he got frustrated and crushed it into a million pieces, clenching his fists.

Amnesty looked around uneasily. The citizens were nearly gathered, and few of them seemed pleased with her... She spotted Reno storming off, only to sit slumped over on a rock a few yards away, looking almost ready to break down.
She noticed Kamen and got a brilliant idea. She went to him hurriedly.
"Kamen! You once had a psychic connection with Nikky, right? So maybe, while we're waiting for council to start, you could figure out where that Axel creep took her! I know that would at least help Reno's peace of mind... and you do owe him one."

kamen jumped slightly and turned around. ''oh... um... i could maybe. but my strength is only partly back so if they are a long ways away.... i might not be able to reach her.'' he glanced after reno. ''but... i can try??'' he looked back and flashed a weak smile.

Ami smiled. "Finally, some good news. To give it a try is all I ask, Kamen... go for it. I'll cover you in case you get lost... I'm not as strong a telepath as I used to be, but you should be able to follow my psychic vibrations." She held his hand reassuringly. When is that council going to start? We'd better hurry... I don't want to miss it while I'm busy here...

"I know the feeling." Ami grinned wryly. That first fight with Leviathan... I thought for sure I'd get fried, but we still defeated him. I'm just as strong as I ever was... maybe stronger, because this time around I had to work for it. She tightened her grip on his hand until her hold was solid and firm. "What do you need me to do? You can borrow some of my strength if you really need it."
She waited for him to go ahead.

he looked down at her head before looking back. ''if i stagger or falter... i may need some assistance.'' he waited a moment before looking ahead and closing his eyes. he searched for nikkys energy slowly at first so he didn't miss it. but he knew he was slightly rushed so he tried to look fast.

Ami calmed herself and breathed slowly, trying to stay tranquil and harmonized with her settings, in spite of the mounting hostility she could sense from the crowd... and even from her own family...
They just don't understand... don't focus on yourself. Just clear your head... Kamen will need you... She thought of how she had once done this with Yazoo for a similar reason, and tried to keep that image in her mind to prevent her from becoming distracted.
