Tifa gave the boy an incredulous stare. "What makes me... oh, for the love of-- Do you honestly not know what those freaks have done? To me, to Cloud, to the children?"

Sin shook his head sadly.
"I don't know anything except since I woke up in Wutai and a few scattered memories of Shinra doing tests on me, and your names. It is remarkable enough I can breath and speak at all."

Tifa was almost in frustrated tears. "They tried to kidnap us, kill us, destroy our world! And now Cloud calls them allies? FRIENDS?!" She paced aimlessly, wildly. "After six months of nothing, he shows up on MY doorstep with THEM and expects me to say welcome back, let me take your coat?"

Sin nodded and quitely took a chair. He listened to her as she explained, and though for a moment.
"I do not know why Cloud would do that. If something like that happened to me I would have killed them as soon as I laid eyes on them. It is obvious you love for Cloud is the only thing preventing you from that, and I do not know how Cloud can view them as he does. I will try and talk to him and see why he is treating them like friends if you want, or I can stay and you can continue to talk."
He could not prevent the quick glance towards the door however, he did manage to hid his fear of her.

She waved at him dismissively. "You go talk to him. I'm not in a talk-y mood right now." She kicked a fallen lamp, cracking it.

Sin flinched, but managed to walk out of the room. He sighed as he ran as soon as he was out of the room. He headed off in search of Cloud. He walked after a while towards the sick bay.

Cloud was there, helping Reno tend to Denzel's burns. "Hey, Sin," he greeted flatly. "Something the matter? You look a little... uh, what's the word... blown away."
Ami sat there also, with Vincent. "If the beacon IS on Wutai, we will see your Shelke when we get there."
His head sank. "I promised I would come back to her someday. I never specified when. She told me she believed I would not return. That perhaps it would be easier if I didn't."
Ami reached for his hand. "She didn't mean that. Trust me."
She met his eyes and smiled.

Sin said nothing, but walked straight at Cloud and punched him in the jaw.
"Did you have to get someone like THAT to love you? and why the HELL are you friends with Yazoo and them? I about lost my life trying to get Tifa to stop destroying the ship."
He punched him again, and shuddered.
"You have one scary love there."

"Sin!" Ami jumped up, but Vincent was faster. With only the one arm, he held the boy back and restrained him.
Cloud wiped the blood away from his mouth fiercely. "What are you talking about? Tifa and I aren't like that. I mean... I don't know, she's like my sister."
Ami suddenly spun around to interrupt Sin's line of vision. She socked him in the gut, and reflexively he crumbled, too fast for even Vincent to hold onto him. "Don't talk about my brothers like that ever again!" She reared back to strike again, but someone caught her fist in an iron grip.
She struggled, but Cloud refused to release her. "Ami! Leave him alone! It was an honest question, he deserves an answer!"
"What the h**l are you defending him for? He just socked you in the jaw for no good reason! Is everyone on this ship INSANE?!"
Silently, from the door, mako cat eyes were watching. Ami...

Sin got up silently in one smooth motion.
"Cloud, you may not think of her like that, but if that is true then you are both a fool and deserving of a good beating. Now,"
He turned towards Ami.
"That was a nice punch. and I have not insulted you brothers, but Yazoo is the only one's name I know. I still demand an answer as to why Cloud is acting so friendly with them, and what they did too cause Tifa to freak out and verge on destroying the ship and everyone inside if it means killing your brothers."

Ami looked ready to explode. "I'll pummel you good for that!"
She yanked free from Cloud, only to be intercepted by Vincent. "Ami, come with me."
"Let me kill him first!"
"No."
"Not even a little bit?"
"NO."
Vincent dragged her out, still whining. "You never let me have any fun!!!"
Outside the door, she found Kadaj and Loz eavesdropping. "We can defend ourselves, you know," he informed her irritably.
"Yeah. Think of what would happen to our reputation if people heard a girl was going around beating people up for us," Loz groaned.
Ami shook free of Vincent's grip. "What the matter with all of you?! Are you all crazy?!" She stormed off.
Loz looked at Kadaj. "It's that time of month again, isn't it?"
"Ya think?"

Denzel, silent through this entire commotion, finally spoke up. "He's right, Cloud. It... it just doesn't make any sense."
Cloud sighed heavily and sat down. "Look, kid, I don't know where you've been or who you've been talking to, but whoever gave you the idea that I am even remotely friends with any Remnant needs to be set straight post haste. I've barely gotten to the point that I can stand being in the same room with them. Obviously, Tifa is having difficulty approaching that point."

Cloud groaned. "It's a really long story..." He took a deep breath. "All right. The fact is, these three brothers are clones of my most hated enemy... once my idol. Sephiroth." Cloud's eyes darkened. "He burned my hometown to the ground, and my family with it. I turned on him in revenge, but he nearly killed me before he fled. My unconscious body was taken for experimentation by Shinra. It was a year of pure hell." He looked up. "You would know. Anyway, some years after that, he returned and murdered Aeris, the one woman I ever really loved. He destroyed her because she stood in the way of his plan to destroy this world and remake it as he saw fit. I defeated him-- I thought he was dead. Then... then came the Remnants. Some believed they were component parts of his spirit. At times, I can't help but wonder how close to the truth they were. They came to carry on his mission. And in the end, they resurrected Sephiroth to finish what he had started. Again, I defeated him, and the brothers. Now, over a year and a half later..." He shook his head. "Amnesty is their youngest sister. She told me... when they left home, all they wanted was to save her, thatthey were brainwashed into doing so many horrible things. She says when they died, they continued watching over her, like some kind of twisted post-mortem guardian angels. And when they had proven their repentance, they were given a new chance." He chuckled a dry laugh. "At least, so she tells me. Whether to believe that or not, I don't know. You saw-- and felt, I bet-- what she did to you in their defense. It could be she lies for them. Or maybe they lied to her and she's convinced they're innocent. All I can be sure of is this: I joined with them only because I was afraid of being defeated by something worse."

Sin chuckled silently and shook his head, one hand on his face, covering his eyes.
"Now, give me the full story as to why Tifa wants to destroy this ship as well as us along with it if it means killing them?"

"Tifa was there, when the Nibelheim massacre claimed my hometown. She watched her father die with Sephiroth's blade covered in his blood. She mourned when Aeris was murdered. She fought to save this world that seems so intent on destroying itself. It only got worse when the brothers came. She was beaten half to death by one of them for information. She witnessed one of them kidnapping Marlene. She prayed and cried when they lured away all the other orphans on our street to the forest. She saw them nearly destroy Monument Plaza and the Shinra ruins single-handedly. And, she tells me, she hears Denzel and Marlene have nightmares about them every night. I don't blame her for hating them. I just don't see why she has to throw hating me into the bargain."
