she laughed slightly and danced normal, the song changed. the beat was a bit faster. she picked up the pace, not even breaking a sweat. ''yeah? you ready for another??'' she grinned slightly.

It took some effort, but he tried to speed up. "Ready when you are," he replied between breaths. "Not like I need to sit out or anything..." Okay, well, I could use a break, but the longer it takes for her to notice that, the better.

Reno followed suit. "Salty dog, as many shots as are legal." He smiled at her. "You, Nikky, are a woman of many surprises." He got out his wallet and paid for both drinks. "Having fun?"

"Hey... you ain't seen nothing yet." He got the barkeep's attention. "Hey, how much longer till the Magic Dome?"
The barkeep grinned. "About two minutes."
Reno drained his glass. "Two minutes, huh?" He pulled Nikky out of her seat. "Let's see how close to the middle of the floor we can get. You don't wanna miss this."
He started working his way through a mob of dancers now rather preoccupied with the ceiling. Nikky's gonna love this.
Almost there...

The ceiling, until now as dull and blank as any ceiling, suddenly came to life with fiber optic lights simulating fireworks. The crowd cheered and the pace of the dancing revved up to a frenzy. Fog machines began to spew their contents, and a colorful glow settled over everything. The fireworks gave way to pulsating patterns set to lighthearted music, played by cybernetic musicians instead of pumped out of the jukebox.
Reno put his arms around Nikky. "This place has got some real class." He leaned in and kissed her, almost as oblivious to the crowd as it was to him.

He responded in kind and tightened his embrace, pressing against her. He couldn't remember when he'd felt so good. This just plain beats all, hands down.
Steamer observed this action from his position by the door and cheered. "Whoo! Go for it, Big Red! That's my boy!"
Reno smiled and ignored him, running a hand through Nikky's hair. Most amazing day of my life. No other day even comes close.

Are we even still touching the ground? I can't feel my feet anymore... He came up for air, head still bowed towards her. "Earlier I thought this day was never going to end... and now I don't want it to." He shook his head and laughed. "Grife, I gotta be in love... no other way I would ever consent to say something that corny otherwise."
A slower tune began to play. The solo dancers cleared out to make room for the couples. He began to move with her as the frenetic pace of the lights mellowed to a slow fade. He didn't know much anbout slow dancing either, but it came a little more naturally to him. "Nikky, you're the only girl I've ever allowed myself to be corny with. As in, I think this is the first time I've been in love."
He gave himself a moment to enjoy the feel of her leaning against him as the colors came and went around them. He lowered his mouth to her ear. "I mean, I wish it wasn't too late to say you're the first girl I've ever been with, but you're the first one I've wished I could say was the first." He looked her in the eyes, brushing her hair aside gently. "Am I making any sense?"

she wa blushing as she nodded and giggled. ''yeah.... that is kind of corny.'' this guys like a love sick dog.
she danced with him and slowly started to fully relax. she wasn't paying attention to anything... this felt so unreal. what am i doing.... i don't deserve this. she smiled and almost snuggled against him. she giggled slightly. ''you give me too much credit... but you are the only one that i feel i can truely relax around. as for love....'' she grinned. ''i guess we're in the same boat.'' she hated to admit it though.
she listened to him with closed eyes, her heart fluttered slightly at his words. she couldn't really form words so she stayed quiet. she smiled. ''yes.... surprisingly you are making sense...''

He kept his arms snugly around her as the band played on. This kind of stuff just doesn't happen in real life. Any second now I'm gonna wake up on the beach, find out I got knocked out cold, and start beating up on the snake dude again. Or maybe he smoked me and I went to heaven... although all things considered, I'm not entirely sure that's where I'd end up.
He waited, but he didn't wake up.
A girl in a flowered dress and a pink suede hat was onstage with the robot band, singing some old-fashioned bit that followed the classic format: boy meets girl in an enchanted ballroom which then explodes for no adequately explored reason. The lyrics left a little to be desired, but the tune sounded sentimental, anyway. And the girl, even though she looked like something you put in the oven after giving it a few days to rise, sounded almost sentimental enough to make a guy throw up unless he was too lovesick to notice. Which Reno was.
Yo, Father Time? Hope you're listening, 'cause if you're planning to take a breather in the near future, now would be good. I'd be just fine staying here for a while. You could pick up the slack again in, say, five-ten years or so. I wouldn't mind, really. You don't say anything, I won't either.
The Magic Dome took on the appearance of a night sky filled with stars, the kind of sky a person might see in the country if the trees didn't get in the way. A sparkle of light whizzed across the simulated skyscape... a shooting star.
He smiled and directed Nikky's attention to it. "Make a wish."
