It was all Vincent could do to keep from passing out. The paim was absolutely immense. But the cold dread was enough to counteract it. He squirmed, deliberately trying to give Sephiorth the satisfaction of seeing it... he knew that so long as the creature was amused, Ami had a little more time... he'd have more time to think of some way to get her out of here... "Take one step in that cave and I will take that that d**n sword of yours... I'll skin you alive with it..."

"Oh, so there IS something of intrest in the cave, then... Very interesting."
He arched his fist back and delivered a powerful punch to Vincent's jaw, dazing him. He then got up and tapped his fingers on the hilt before ripping it free and lifting Vincent off the ground by his neck. He smirked and tossed the dazed warrior away, heading into the cave.

Vincent lay crumpled in a heap. If it weren't for his near indestructibility, he would have already been unconscious... But the sight of the horror heading into the cave mouth pulled him back to his feet. He lurched for the cave painfully...

Within the cave was one of the stranger sights Sephiroth had ever been exposed to, and all things given, that is saying something.
Ami's hands lay flat against the mako crysytal that housed Lucrezia's body... or, more accurately, they lay INSIDE the crystal. They had sunk at least an inch beneath the surface, as if the crystal had turned to liquid beneath her palms. Her fingertips nearly touched the dead woman's body...
Ami's skin glowed softly, with a pulsing blue light, and her eyes glowed bright, like the stone that was her namesake. Even mere feet from her, Sephiroth still could not sense her presence. It was as if something was blocking it... or, perhaps, shielding it...
She was shaking violently... Her lips moved and a voice not her own emerged...
"I'm sorry..."

Sephiroth's teeth ground together and he stalked over to Amnesty, grabbing her by the hair and putting his blade to her throat.
"Did you really think I wouldnt get to you at some point "Dear Sister"? This just makes killing you all the more satisfying... However, I currently need you alive, your protector should be coming in any minute, so just bare with me." He said, laughing.

Ami's hands were yanked free from the crystal. The glow radiating off her flesh immediately faded, and the light winked out of her eyes. But her mind still reeled, overwhelmed by the presence that had overshadowed it... she was oblivious to the blade at her throat...
****
Vincent threw himself through the cave mouth and abruptly came to a halt upon realizing exactly what this creature had in his clutches.
He was too late.
Lucrezia lay in her crystal silently, undisturbed by the commotion.
Ami stood captive, inches from death. Her eyes locked with Vincent's. In moments, they flooded over.
"Run away. For G**'s sake, leave me here!"
He didn't move. He kept his gun trained on both of them.

"So what exactly do you plan to do, Vincent? Shoot us both?" He asked mockingly, moving so she was slightly in front of him. He grinned, this is what made them weak, so unwilling to make sacrifices...

"Do it, d**n it!" Ami commanded. She would have supplied reasons why he should have, but the blade against her skin silenced her.
Vincent glanced behind the Nightmare.
Lucrezia's form remained suspended behind the equally still forms of her two children. Her oldest son, her youngest daughter. One threatening to kill the other.
So at last we stand together, reunited.
Though this is a far cry from the way I envisioned it, so long ago... before this kind of reality even faintly imposed itself on my worst nightmares. Before we were torn apart.
"One is forced to wonder how this scene would be changed, if one or two decisions were reversed," he commented darkly. "Choice is a powerful thing. We're all victims of it here."
He holstered his weapon, his eyes boring into his enemy. "What do you want? If you didn't want anything from me, she'd be dead already."

"I want you to take a little trip in my 'stead, Vincent... Your going to save my life. And as a result, spare HER life as well." He said, grinning evilly.

"Just shoot me," Ami muttered, her tone morbidly sarcastic.
Vincent ignored her. "There are times the means justify the ends. And how have you managed to place yourself in mortal danger this time?" I need details before I decide anything... though I've already committed, haven't I?

"You neednt worry about the MEANS in that case, Vincent... Just the ENDS. I want you to find a certain ship for me and retrieve something from it. Something VERY specific." He relished in the frustration... It was like the room was flooded with it.

"And why, exactly, are you so profoundly unable to manage aforementioned theft yourself?" His cool tone thinly masked his hostility. This place had been his one consistent refuge for years. Now this... abomination was deliberately defiling it with his presence. "I know you'd no sooner ask for my help than I would ask for yours."

"As I said Vincent, thats of no importance to you. The point is, you will asist with the procurement of the item I require or watch me dice my 'dear sister's head off and spill her blood on your boots."

Vincent gritted his teeth, quietly, giving no outward sign. "I see. So what exactly is this specific object you are in such dire need of? And why should I believe my retriving it will guarantee her life to me?" He shoved down his anger with a huge effort of will. He couldn't afford to push it, not with Amnesty's life on the line.

"You will go locate a Shinra ship out along the coast, steal a minimum of 5 crates from their ship and bring it back to the Costa Town port, where I will release her to you." His grip tightened on her slightly.

Ami winced. She knew well, Sephiroth had no intention of letting either her or Vincent live. If Vincent would only kill him and risk losing her at the same time, at least he would have a chance.
Vincent also knew this, possibly even better than Amnesty did. But he had no intention of allowing himself to make a decision based upon this information. The more this information attempted to impose itself upon his mind, the more irritated he became. "Crates can contain any number of things. Any number of Shinra Corporation ships could be along the Sol coastline. The Shinra family summer cottage is in Costa Town, don't forget. I want details. Which ship? What is its name? Exactly what kind of crates am I looking for? What can I expect to find inside them?"
There was a pregnant silence. He took his rifle from its holster and swung the butt of the enormous gun at a mako crystal formation, shattering it. "D**n it, I need answers."
