Rude declined drinks politely, taking note of the Silkens' puzzled looks when he muttered disclaimers containing the phrase "designated driver".
True enough, there seemed to be no cars in this dimension... but he knew too well Reno was capable of crashign ANY vehicle when drunk enough, including his own two feet.
And at the rate he was going, he would be beyond the point of even standing up in good conscience within the hour. Now that the alcohol had broken out and was circulating freely, there would be no stopping him.
He figured he would wait for Reno to pass out first... THEN he'd get drunk.

Nikky was drinking only a little lighter then her fiancee. She had to admit that relaxing was fun, but she was still wary to get too drunk. She tended to be quite crazy when completly under the influence. She watched the scence cheerily, grinning almost madly. But her eyes were mainly on Reno, making sure he didn't hurt himself...

Reno was at the "laughs-at-really-dumb-stuff" phase of his intoxication process. (One had to know this because he had just rather loudly announced it to Rude, who merely nodded with some non-committal noise and moved off to watch from a safer distance). He turned to Nikky and grinned, a rather unsteady grin. "These guys can sure throw a great party, huh?" He laughed, of course. "I'm beginning to think all that epic battle stuff was maybe worth the trouble." He leaned over and kissed her neck, an arm around her shoulders.

Nikky laughed and ran her hands through his hair. "Yeah, great party, baby." She giggled at his drunkeness and leaned into him slightly. "Maybe... just maybe." She couldn't help but laugh at him. But he was adorable when he made little to no sense... "But I don' advise we go searching for more trouble too soon... alright??" She grinned back.

He took a deep breath and nodded, sighing with contentment, the exotic grog fast working to make him more and more incoherent. "Sure thing, honey," he agreed, pulling her against him and leaning his head on hers. What with all the craziness lately, it'd been a while since he and Nikky had gotten some quality time. "It kinda hits me just now that, beyond you saying 'yes, I will', we've had a real limited dialogue as far as our wedding goes." He grinned sappily. "But h**l, I'm a man. Which means I know absolutely squat about weddings."

She smiled and snuggled him, not minding if people watched. She was beginning to miss this little fuzzy time between them...
She grinned, eyes closed, at his words. "You're absolutely right. Thats why I'm the one planning it and all you have to do is show up." She laughed a bit before nuzzling her way up his neck lightly. "You don't have to worry 'bout a thing, baby. I'm not gonna leave your drunk a** anytime soon..." Her voice held a humor and a sort a slurr but not too bad.

He eyed her lazily, leaning into her nuzzling and grinning like an idiot. "Well, leaving your a** is the farthest thing from my mind, I can tell you that right now. I mean, I happen to enjoy being in local proximity of your a**, partially because as far as a**es go, it's a good one, but mostly because you're attached to it." He was getting sillier by the second and he knew it, so he decided to just shut up and kiss her already before his mouth did anything else (particularly anything he might regret later).

( Nice. lol )
Nikky giggled and laughed before kissing him back. She ran her hands through his hair and moved up to be more level with him. It had been a while since they really had a good kiss. Too long really.
Kamen was wandering about, completely lost and silent. He wasn't really sure what to do, but he politely declined any alcoholic drinks as he walked around in and around that area.

Reno smiled and moved his fingers over her face, feeling how soft it was, deepening the kiss slowly and moving closer to her. It HAD been a while... this was even better than he seemed to remember. It could have been the grog, but he decided to dismiss that theory on the grounds that Nikky was really a pretty hot kisser.

Kadaj and the others had finally managed to sit down somewhere with their drinks and were playing a drinking game, similar to rock-paper-scissors, but different in that you were allowed to try reading your opponent's mind. Kadaj usually lost on purpose. He spooted Kamen wandering around. "Room for one more, you know."

She smiled into the kiss, her growing need for his warmth and touch almost too unbearable. Her other hand ran down his chest and gripped his shirt lightly. She had missed this so much...
Kamen heard him and looked over. He blinked before frowning slightly and walking over. He decided why not and sat down. He looked from one to the other slowly before looking back at Kadaj. "How do you play?" He slowly smiled, having warmed up to everyone enough. He still had a cautious look but it was just his nature.

Kadaj smirked. "Fairly simple. First, all the players have to down one round. Then everybody gets a drink and sits around in a circle. You pick either rock, paper or scissors. But here's the fun part... you can try reading your opponent's minds for which object they'll choose. After ten seconds, everybody shows hands. It gets tougher the more drinks you have... alcohol consumption almost immediately dampens telepathic abilities. Feel like a round, kid?" The others suppressed snickers, both with the same thought on their minds... This is gonna be good.

Reno wrapped his arms around his fiancee, holding her against him, kissing her deep and long, tasting her lips... he'd practically been aching for her the past few days, and quickly decided he wanted to make up for lost time.

Kamen thought about before returning the smirk faintly. "Why not? Nothing better to do." He could sense that this probably wasn't going to end well in his favor but it was worth a shot. He liked feeling part of something. He knew well that he was unaccustomed to any alcohol and that he stood little chance....
She leaned against him, letting her hands roam across his clothed chest and back. She closed her eyes and kept the kiss they shared just as deep with passion and longing. She felt more drunk then she did before... but in a good way.

Kadaj chuckled dryly. "I think I see why my sister likes you." Without proffering further explanation, he passed Kamen his drink. "Finish that off and I'll get another one. The rest of us already had the first round." He headed off towards the keg, fetching another calabash on the way, carefully avoiding the tangled knots of dancing and merry-making lizards in his way.
Loz watched him go and turned to Kamen, tapping his calabash a bit restlessly. "Sooo... what's the story, kid?"
"Whatever your story may be... it can't be any worse than ours," Yazoo seconded, staring into his drink. He glanced irritably over at his brother... "Hurry it up. I'm thirsty."
Loz nodded. "Twenty-five words or less. I have a short attention span."
****
Reno pressed against Nikky, running a hand down her side, trying to take in as much of her as possible... draping his other arm over her back, letting it stray downwards... kissing her lips, her face, her neck... breathing a little bit harder... he was getting a bit hazy and wasn't sure if it was Nikky or the drinks or both, but he was enjoying himself in any case and so decided to not over think it.

Keman nodded and swallowed slightly at the drink. He bit his lip before looking to Loz. He blinked. "Uh... well." He glanced at Yazoo. He was never good at communicating verbally. "I'm a puppet master, and I was tricked into doing another's dirty work and set to kill Nikky. But failed. Now I'm here trying to gain back the life I lost." He took a heavy swig of his drink, making a slight face. He looked at them awkwardly before adding. "I also... killed my family and turned in the friends I did have long ago." He finished the drink and fell into his usual silence.
Nikky melted into his touches, moaning softly. She kept her eyes closed as she kissed him back and all over. Her skin felt hot where ever he touched and her heart raced. She tried to return each favor but seemed to lose herself. The alcohol was seeming to take its toll in that time seemed to stop and nothing else mattered....

Yazoo and Loz exchanged looks.
Loz took a small swallow of his drink. "46 words. Not bad."
Yazoo followed suit. "Genetic experiments, adopted parents killed in fire, two years on the streets, adopted again, Ami got sick, ran away to find help, suckered into killing lots and lots of people, got killed, became spirits, got bodies, became spies, and now we're in with you lot."
Loz grinned. "45. Winner by a hair."
Yazoo nodded. "Don't forget, I had three times the material to sum up."
"Fine, so 45 divided by three," Kadaj added as he returned with his drink and a replacement for Kamen. "15. New high score." He flashed a smirk at the party, handing Kamen the fresh calabash. "Doesn't matter, he wins either way. Now, on to the main event." He put the glass in his lap and put his fist out, closing his eyes to concentrate. He started counting down from ten out loud, trying to get into the minds of his opponents...
****
Her kisses all over him felt like drops of hot water, the way it is when a sprinkler that has been lying in the sun all day gets turned on... he felt like he was blurring into her, moving against her, his arms tightly wrapped around her body... he could feel her temperature rising as he heard her moans, and he felt like the desire was about to burn him up... he put his mouth to her ear and kissed it before whispering... "Nikky... nobody's paying us any attention... I say we make a break for it, head out where they can't find us in the dark... go and do whatever the h**l we feel like and not come back 'til the sun comes up. Sound like fun?"
****
Ami and Vincent had decided by mutual consensus to leave the others to their noisy fun and take a long, quiet walk. The fire pit was a dull orange glow behind them long before either chose to break the silence.
"The females are gonna kill me," Ami muttered, looking down at her dress. Striking out in an arbitrary direction through the woods is fine for escaping a noisy victory celebration, but not so healthy for a fancy ceremonial garment. No rips or stains yet, but smudges of dirt and bits of clinging foliage now decorated her skirt, growing denser near the hem.
Vincent simply kept walking. "I decline to comment."
Ami sighed and shrugged. "You would." She, too, kept moving forward. "I figure I can't make it look much worse, so why turn back now?"
Vincent looked straight ahead, into the dense trees. "You will find attempts to draw me out are usually fruitless."
Ami grinned and laughed. "I like to talk, you like to listen. Works for me."
He suddenly halted and looked sharply at her. "Do you have the slightest idea of what you plan to do with your life?"
She stopped short, stunned. "Um... what brought that on?"
"Answer the question."
Ami stared at him for a second before answering. "To keep protecting people, I suppose."
He shook his head. "Wrong."
She blinked. "Wrong?"
"No one can live like this," he replied darkly. "Least of all a sixteen-year-old girl."
Her return gaze became chilly. "For one, I think I've proven my age to be a non-factor. For two, since this entire adventure began, I've never felt more like..." She hesitated, her gaze lowering.
"More like what?" Vincent prompted.
She returned her gaze to his defiantly. "More like I belonged."
He met her gaze with stony, impenetrable silence. Finally, he sighed. "What happens when the world no longer needs you, or when it suddenly needs someone else? Then where do you belong?"
She didn't... couldn't... answer him. She began walking again.
He followed. "Amnesty, I have been in this place before. The answer is, you don't. You find yourself outside of every room as you enter it, ignored by your friends as they talk to you, forgotten while the world wastes its words honoring you. There is no contradiction in my words. You know this is true. You have also been in this place before... in a world that tries to move on and rebuild. This is what you ran from. It was never about revenge. It was about escape. You cannot be comfortable in peace. Do you know why?"
She slowed her pace, not turning to look at him. "Because peaceful people forget."
He stared out into nothing, nodding slowly. "I'm too old to learn to forget. It's not too late for you." He looked to her, even though she did not look back. "Move on, Amnesty. Forget. Then you will be happy."
She said nothing. She moved again.
They walked on, lapsing back into silence.
