I rode on my trusty steed across the land that was midgar. This baron wasteland had been nearly destroyed by Shinra's evil actions.
It was just as Barett had described. A lot has changed in the ten years that i have been gone. My blade by my side, I entered Shinra HQ. I leaped from my chocobo up to the second floor.
Rufus would be at the top. The building seemed to be abandoned, except for the many fiends that littered the building.
Strange... What had happened here?

Ten years. Where had I been? Yuna had told me i was in Spira. I had never heard of it. I didn't know how I got there, or how i got here. From one world to another, I travelled solving peoples problems, never able to solve my own.
I only wish that I could get back to my world. Back to my friends, back to my life. But i couldn't. Fate had another plan for me. I was to live alone and die alone. This was my life... I guess i never would truly be happy. Kinda sad.

I was on the top floor now. Alone apart from the common monster. But they were nothing. Nothing that could have wiped out a building full of people. As i walked into Rufus' room, I found what I needed to know.
It was a note from Rufus:
Omega weapon must be stopped before it destroys Shinra and all of Midgar. So I trust it in your able hands to defeat it Strife. I know you and i may be enemies and you may wish to settle thing between us, but you must save Shinra first. Then i will come to you, and you can deal with my miserable life as you please.
Just save shinra...
From the looks of it, this Strife person wasn't able to save Shinra, or maybe he didn't want to. Either way, I would have to find Rufus, and if Strife was the only clue I had, I would have to find him first.
