Tseng's hand never left the grip of his gun, nor did his other hand leave the handle of his EMR. 'if that bastard gives me ONE opening I'll take his ass down without even thinking twice....'
Sephiroth considered the proposal a moment, glancing down at the child in his arm. "Well little one, I believe your brother may be telling the truth... If for no other reason than to keep you from harm." he said, removing the blade from Jared's throat. "Now, kindly tell your dog over there to take his hands off his weapons before I give the child back" He said, motioning to Tseng.

Jared didn't like it. He did not like it at all. But he still had the Orphan's Curse. And if s**t came to s**t, there was no reason he couldn't recover the weapons telepathically. He wasn't worried about himself... he just wanted Sephiroth to get his d**n claws off his sister. He took his focus off the sword, and it bent back into straightness.
"Tseng, put them down," he said calmly. "Don't worry." Not about me. Just keep your eyes on Hope. That's what you'll do if you care about me at all.
His eyes and mind were sharply focused on his nefarious uncle... knowing that he could within a blink of an eye turn on him and render him wholly dead...

Tseng hesitated, then let go of the EMR, dropping it to the ground, then slowly moving his hand away from the gun stashed in his belt. 'if he even MOVES wrong near her I'll be all over him...'
Sephiroth grinned, then handed the child over. "See? Was that really so hard?" He said mockingly. "Alright, now that we've got all that settled... Here's how things are going to work. I take you towards the ship. Every 200 miles I get some of the supressant. When we are 200 miles away and I get enough to sustain me, then I take you the rest of the way there. Understood?"

"Reasonable," Jared agreed. We're at his mercy now... but I at least have ONE more pull over him... "I only have one request in return. On our way I wish to travel to Nibelheim. I want to visit my mother's grave and ask for her favor on our journey." You don't dare to refuse me. After all, that's where you found your mother. Mount Nibelheim, stored away in a stasis capsule. Now my mother is locked in a capsule of stone, not even a mile away.
You carried your mother to the Lifestream. I'll carry mine to the Netherspace, where she will live again.

"Agreed. However, only if I carry her. I want to make sure you dont get any funny ideas about ending our 'partnership' prematurely." He said with finality.

"Believe me, that is the farthest thing from my mind," Jared replied, truthfully. "I assume by 'her' you mean my sister. You can't refer to my mother's remains... I wouldn't think of disturbing my mother's rest in such a way." You really don't know the rules of the Netherspace, do you? That's right... you were born in Shinra Labs, not the Space. One more advantage... "That is the ONE condition I cannot allow. Every fiber of my being is contrary to that. However, I will allow you to keep me in your custody throughout our visit. My life will be your insurance. Tseng will keep hold of Hope. Does that satisfy you?"

"Agreed. Hand over your weapons and give the child to your dog."
"Call me a damn dog one more time..." Tseng said quietly.

Jared nodded and took the child towards Tseng. "My eyes may need checking, but the last time I checked, he had two legs, not four. And he's by no means fuzzy enough. So either he's not a dog or we have discovered a freakish new subspecies."
He handed over the baby carefully. He met Tseng's gaze intently. "Keep a close eye on her. She's a troublemaker, you know." Translation: She's the reason I live. Don't let anything happen to her. Protect her with your life.
The baby fussed a little bit at being parted from her brother, but allowed Tseng to hold her grudgingly. After all, he seemed to be nice... And he was a definite improvement over that trenchcoated blasphemer.
Jared turned back to Sephiroth. He removed the Orphan's Curse carefully. "This thing is brand new. I better get it back without a scratch." He held it out, but recalled it for a moment. "Wait. Will Tseng get his EMR back? If we seriously plan to infiltrate the Patran ship, he'll need it."

"Dont worry, your dog will get full use of his teeth. As will you, when we reach the ship. Until then, your weapons stay with me."

Jared gritted his teeth at yet another use of the moniker "dog". Sigh... he decided he'd just have to live with it. He shot Sephiroth an acid glare, telepathically reproaching him. Dog, you call him... but he'd make a far better alpha male for this family than you would ever think of being.
He handed over the weapon, a bit more roughly than he needed to, and stormed out towards the truck. He tossed himself into a seat sulkily. "Are you all coming or not?"
Something deep in his brain was boiling. I know. Mother will take care of him, after our deal is done. I know better than to betray him. If he harms one hair on my family's heads, there will be h**l to pay. Small I am but I make up for it in power. Let's see how he likes the feeling of a mountain crushing him.
I'm coming for you, Mother...

Sephiroth took the weapon from him and climbed back into the truck, very pleased with himself. "Head west. I'll take care of it when we get to the end."
Almost an hour later, they arrived at an airship landing area, there were several parked, waiting for re-fueling. Sephiroth hopped out of the truck and looked around. There were three that were fully fueled and he chose the one on the end of the row. Walking very confidently towards it, he snapped his fingers for the others to follow.

Jared gave Tseng an incredulous look. What the h**l is with that finger-snapping thing?
He sighed heavily, getting out of the truck and following relutctantly after his "uncle". The toxin was making him more and more tired, and the effort he'd been putting into secreting the serum wasn't helping...

Tseng just shook his head angrily and followed, ready for anything.
-----------------------------
Sephiroth approached the airship and walked right up the entrance ramp. From inside, the others could hear speaking.
"Who the hell ar-" but that was as far as the voice got, because the 'shing!' of a sword being swung was heard at that point and a body nearly cleaved in two came flying out a moment after that. Sephiroth came out a moment later, waving them in. "We're borrowing the ship. Everyone onboard."

"Your gift for subtlety never fails to amaze," Jared commented dryly. He walked up the ramp, avoiding the splotches of blood. He strapped himself into a seat and waited. "My mother's grave is in the woods just a short distance beyond the manor grounds. Get us there and I'll find her."

"I only care about results, not subtlety." He said, powering up the ship and taking off, heading for the mansion owned by the family he despised most...
