"Not... really." Kidd ducked to the side as Yazoo swung and delivered a kick to his side. He then rolled and threw a right hook. "I could... use some though."

Ami stiffened and held her head up higher. "He can take care of himself."
"Ami, don't forget, your brothers are semi-psychic," he reminded. "You've experienced too much loss to expect it won't happen again."
Ami looked straight ahead. "Why do you insist on reminding me? I was hoping we could go for a few minutes without having to remember you're only here as long as the summon holds out."
"I'm sorry, Ami. But you shouldn't be forced to walk any road alone. You walked alone for a year after we died, and it nearly killed you. Not literally, perhaps, but something inside you nearly died. This boy, Squall, helped bring it to life again."
Ami looked up at the sky, waiting for the water in her eyes to drain back behind her eyelids. Psychic or not, how can he know I've been thinking exactly that since Squall disappeared?
Kadaj nearly didn't say it. But he'd come this far, and he never left a job unfinished. "Don't let it die if he never returns."
She sent her gaze back to the dirt road and started kicking rocks again as mysterious drops of water spattered at her feet.
Kadaj sighed and put a hand on her shoulder. "It's all right, Ami. You don't need to say anything." I know what your heart is saying.
They finally got within eyesight of the market. But it seemed to be deserted, ravaged, and looted. Every shop they saw along the way told the same story.
Ami looked more and more grim with every door they passed...

"You can say that again," Yazoo smirked, grabbing Kidd's fist and yanking him down to the ground. He then put a heavy boot on his back. "Pinned you."

Kidd just laughed. "I beleive that's game. You win today bro." Kidd got up and dusted himself off. "I'll let you and Loz take it back up. Im gonna go check on Rude." Kidd walked into the house and spotted Rude. He walked over to him. "Anything new?"

nikky got this odd pang. she blinked, eyes huge. but she quickly pushed passed it.
an eery evil lurked around the fort and nearby areas. it acted like thick fog.... cold and damp.

Rude, checking to see if Reno and Nikky were done yet, rolled his eyes. Wonder if those two ever plan on coming up for air...
Reno decided he wanted to forget where he was (a dusty old fort) and why he was there (a crazy emo wizard). He only wanted to remember who he was with and what he was doing. He moved his free hand down her back...
Rude facepalmed himself. That's enough. If I wait much longer, these two will be doing some full-on making out, and heaven help anyone who tries to get their attention then.
He entered the room and coughed politely.
With considerable reluctance, Reno slowly pulled away. Oh, G**, not again... this makes it the third time in a row. "Now what?"
The look on Rude's face sobered Reno up in a hurry. "What is it?"
Two words. "Rufus knows." That was all Rude needed to say.
Reno's jaw dropped and he paled a shade or two. "Holy s**t..." Looks like you aren't the only one on the lam all of a sudden, Nikky. "How much?"
"Enough."
Reno looked at Nikky, who clearly didn't understand what they were talking about. He summed it up for her. "We're s***wed."

nikky blinked at rude before staring at reno. it made no sense but she got that they were in trouble. she nodded to that much.

"Find anything?" Kadaj called.
"Yeah!" Ami climbed out of a pile of rubble which used to be a house. She had gone there on the intuition that the basement might not be picked clean yet. Several bags of cereal were in her arms and a huge grin was on her face. "This oughta tide us over."
Kadaj helped her pick her way out of the rubble. "Just like old times-- ye olde trash picking days. Let's get back to the others..." He paused, eyes flickering. "Wait a second..."
Ami froze... she knew that look. "What is it?"
"Something back at the fort..."
He saw his brothers standing on the roof, staring down at a thick dark fog. Their thoughts were clear. This doesn't look good. You better hurry back, brother.
Yeah, hurry! I'm getting scared!
Loz, knock it off, you baby.
The vision cut off. "Ami, we have to move."

"Does Ami have a cell? We need to get everyone together." Kidd realized something. "Ami is alone with Kadaj. If they get attacked and the summon ends her life is in danger. Should we go find them or wait here?" Kidd awaited the party's votes.

nikky shrunk and shook slightly. she had seenn this before....
the fog seemed to be alive... it started swallowing the fort. the fog was hard to breath in and was almost too thick to see through.

The return trip was considerably shorter than the outward venture, despite being burdened down by their new cargo. Kadaj and Ami arrived to find Loz and Yazoo waiting at the door for them. "Hurry up!" Loz prompted, biting his lip.
"Don't cry, Loz..." Ami requested.
"I am NOT crying!"
They got inside and their brothers pulled the doors closed again, pushing several heavy objects against them for safety's sake. Ami dropped the cereal bags near the spot where Rude and Kidd were hanging about. "Breakfast time," she announced.
Kadaj spoke to his brothers. "This mist... I'm fairly sure it's no climatological freak."
"Kamen," Yazoo added simply.
"How he thinks he can hurt us with a vapor is beyond me, but anything coming from him cannot be beneficial to us," Kadaj concluded. "We should get ready for attack."
"By eating," Ami broke in, her mouth full of cereal. "You three haven't had a bite of anything for a year. Now eat."
She started passing the bags around. "Dig in, folks."

nikky seemed to just stare, it was hard for her to breath or swallow. she shook slightly and fought mentally to stay in control.

Ami stuck by Reno and Rude as the mist invaded the fort. "A clinging mist is the least of our worries right now," Reno griped, grabbing a fistful of cereal. "Tell them, Rude."
Ami looked back and forth between the two Turks. "Tell us what?"
Rude swallowed the cereal he'd been munching on. "It seems Reno and I have been spotted associating with you, Sunset, and/or your brothers by other Shinra agents," he stated concisely. "As of this moment, our employment is officially terminated... and all of us are now on the run from the most powerful entity on the planet."
Ami sagged. "Oh, swell."
Reno offered Nikky some cereal. "Hungry?" He realized she was staring into nothing, and shaking convulsively. "Nikky?" He took her by the shoulders. "Nikky, look at me. C'mon, focus!"
Then the mist overtook everything. It was like someone turned out the lights. Ami suppressed a startled shriek.
The brothers held still, within sight of each other but unable to see anyone else. "Everyone stay right where they are," Yazoo instructed. If we use our extra-senses, we can gather everyone together. "Wait for us to come find you." They began moving carefully through the mist...

Kidd had finished his share of cereal. He just sat waiting to be found. He heard the cry. "Who was that!"
