the messenger was near tears. ''please.... i am only hear for a last request of the girl. i must go back to tell him a yes or no.... i have a family! please!'' he begged with closed eyes. kamen was watching from afar.... a grin on his twisted yet handsome face.
nikky chewed her lip and sighed. ''i.... for once i don't know. i've been fighting and failing for years....''

Ami's lips tightened. "Okay, here's how this is gonna work. You tell me what the question is. I'll ask the girl. Reno stays out here with you. I bring you the answer back. You go back to your boss, you give him the answer... and then tell him to go to h**l."
Reno looked at Ami with just a little surprise. Sheesh, is she on the rag all of a sudden or what?
Ami got up and shoved the messenger to the ground. "Stay on him, Reno," she requested forcefully. Wonder if they can tell I'm on the rag. "Well, sweetie? What'll it be?"

Rude shook his head in exasperation. "'Change their minds'... What are you saying, that we should talk them out of working for Kamen?"

Ami knelt down and got the messenger by the collar. "Give the question, b*y**ch."
Rude looked at the messenger, then back at Nikky. He facepalmed himself. "I cannot believe I'm even considering this."
He headed for the messenger...

Ami looked down at the messenger. She looked up at Nikky. SHe looked down again.
She laughed. "That doens't sound like a yes or no question to me, kiddo," she said. "I'll ask her, though."
She went up to Nikky and repeated after the messenger, word for word. "'L-lord K-kamen.... woluld like t-to k-know if Nikky w-would like to watch h-her friends die.... o-or kill t-them herself...' L-lord K-kamen i-is o-one c-crazy-a-a-a** m-mofo... to be talking thataway to me and mine!'' Ami shouted into the night.
Rude stood in front of the messenger like a monolith-- a monolith wearing a black suit and Ray-Bans. "You don't have to work for this SOB, you know," he rumbled.
Reno goggled. "Rude..."
Rude cut him off. "You realize that, don't you?"

"Yeah," Reno said slowly, starting to realize what Rude was getting at. "You don't wanna work for the creep, tell him to go stuff himself. Personally, I suggest you make that recommendation with a grenade in your hand..."

Ami nodded to Nikky's response. Suddenly, she understood. So you're a puppet. Not so long ago... I was too.
She turned back to the others. Kamen is to her as Jenova was to me. And she must face him, just as I faced her... because when someone else controls your life, it means nothing.
She stood over the messenger. "She says, 'Let him come.'"
Reno glared. "You make sure he knows, when he does come... he'll have to get through me."
Ami crossed her arms. "And me."
Rude readjusted the Sacrifice. "Count me in."
"It's the three of us against the one of him," Reno asserted. "Plus any of our other friends who happen to show up in the time intervening. If I were you, I'd switch sides... 'cause there's no way your boss, or anybody who helps him, is gonna walk away from this in one piece."
They let the messenger go. Ami removed her helmet and made eye contact with him. "Your call, mate."

Kidd came running into the area with his new friend, Kamryn. "Hey guys. Sorry about being gone so long, had to call in a favor." "Hi. Im Kamryn. Kidd said you guys might need a little help around here." She gave a smile and a wave and walked toward the party. "Stay still Reno." Kidd walked over and plucked a small speaker of Reno's shirt. "I knew that would come in handy."

nikky kept her eyes glued to the ground. sxhe heard the messenger run off and sighed. poor kid.... i hope he will get out of this mess....
the messenger fled as fast as he could. the words of reno and rude flooding through his mind. he told kamen and was dismissed.
kamen grinned slowly. so the puppet has been knawing on her strings..... but lets just see how ready she is.... her friends will be shown no mercy.

Ami gave Kidd's friend a once-over. "That we do... I'm Ami." She shook hands with her. "Don't suppose Little Bro here has told you much about me, eh?"
"The biographies will have to wait," Rude cut her off. "Straight to business. Can you fight? If not, you may not want to be in this particular place at this exact moment..."
He realized he'd forgotten something. "And incidentally, I'm Rude." There. That's better.
Reno gave Kidd a look. "How did you..." He shook his head. "Never mind, I probably don't want to know..."
He went to Nikky and squeezed her hand. "Are you sure about this? He almost killed you once already..." Reno's eyes dropped. "I don't want to lose you."
