"Oh, I know that," Kadaj said dismissively. "For one thing, you're a coward, and I'm not. And don't act shocked... you heard me." He kept the sword a hair's breadth away from Kamen's neck. "The only reason I don't do the planet a service by draining every drop of blood from your body is because I know you have a hold on the girl. Still, that will become a secondary consideration if I think you pose a threat to my family."
Ami gave Kamryn a hand. "What do you mean, upgrade?" She looked around as the goons pulled back. "I got a bad feeling..."
She sidled over to Yazoo. "Think it's a trick?"
"You give them too much credit."
Reno held Nikky steady. "Get your d**n strings off her," he demanded. "She's mine now, and you can't have her back."
Kadaj tried to wave him down. "Excuse me, but I'm handling this."
"Like h**l," Reno retorted. "I'm not going to let her die."
Kadaj had to suppress a groan. Dissention in the ranks...

"Kidd's right on one count, Yaz," Ami confirmed. "The others are going down fast. You and Loz get them outta here."
"Not doable. We stand together or fall seperately."
"I promised to help protect Nikky."
"And we promised to protect you."

kamen looked to nikky with a hard stare. she backed away and broke away from the look. he grinned cruelly. ''coward i may be.... but my strings are never cut.'' he glared slightly, staying still.
nikky hissed. ''i'm fine.... just don't deal anymore damage.'' she winced and held her side.
kamen looked over reno. ''you cannot own someone.... unless you know them.'' he laughed coldly. ''and you know nothing....''
the goonies stood far back, motionless.

"Down, Kidd," Ami insisted. Strifes. Always the drama royalty.
Kadaj shook his head at Kamen's assertion, chuckling slightly. "Where have I heard THAT before? In my experience, no string is too strong to break... some just take a little longer than others."
"I don't want to own her," Reno broke in. "I don't need to-- I love her, she loves me, that's enough!"
Ami gave the assemblage a cursory glance. "Looks like nobody's in favor of the retreat idea," she observed. We stand together. "Back down, buddy... the connections between all of us are way stronger than any hoodoo you're dealing." She took on an offensive stance, and her brothers followed suit.
Loz giggled oafishly. "Do I get to hit him now?"
"Hold your horses, babyface, you'll get your chance," Ami assured him.

kamen sighed slightly and moved back. ''come and find me once you are more informed....'' he disappeared. the goonies scrabled and ran off in different directions.
nikky dropped again and winced. she stayed on one knee and tried to catch her breath. ><

Kidd watched as the enemy retreated. "Lets move out of here. We need to rest. I have a feeling he wants another meeting soon." Kidds blades dissapeared as he walked back to the group. "Hey, when does the summon end? Is there a way to keep them here?"

Kadaj slammed his sword point down into the dirt. "D**n it."
"Okay, so maybe you won't get your chance..." Ami amended. "Shoot, that boy's like smoke on a windy day. Gets into your eyes and is gone before you can get sufficiently p***ed about it."
Kadaj decided to stop fuming and get back to business. "Boys, check the perimeter. Make sure he's not waiting to spring any more nasty little surprises."
Yazoo and Loz moved off to obey.
Reno followed Nikky to the ground. "Nikky, how bad are you hurt?" He put a hand to her face and looked into her eyes, trying to comfort her.
Rude knelt down to check her over. "We'll need some bandages here, if not stitches..."
"We know nothing..." Kadaj was mulling that over. "What exactly did he mean by that?"
Ami tried to prompt him to save it, but he ignored her. "We need to know what we're dealing with, and it seems to me the girl knows more than she's telling."
"Give her a minute to bleed, for crying out loud."
"She can bleed when she's dead," he snapped. "We need answers, and we need them now." He waited. "Well?"

"The summon ends when sufficient damage is inflicted on the enemy," Kadaj answered, still waiting for Nikky's reply. "So it seems our new friend Kamen has quite a large degree of stamina, to take a beating like that and allow us to stay here."
Ami handed over the Tears of Heaven. "Here. I'm not using these anymore... I got a couple more clips for 'em, too, if you want 'em."

nikky pushed them away and snarled and snapped back at kadaj. ''speak to me like that again and i'll let you die like all the rest!'' she glared before calming herself, she glanced at rude. ''i don't need stitches... i'm fine.'' she spoke softly.
the goonies were fleeing and kamen was far away by now.... waiting.

"Don't need to be so snappy. But he is right, you needs to tell us everything so we can stop her suffering faster. Is there anything we need to know Nikky?" Kidd cast a small cure spell with the magic he had left.

Kadaj did a double take. Even he hadn't seen that coming. He watched Nikky carefully. "Is that you talking, or your master?"
Reno got into his face. "You'd know plenty about that, wouldn't you, clone boy?"
"Now, hold on--" he began indignantly, but Reno was not about to be interrupted.
"You have an awful lot of d**n gall to talk that way to her!"
Kadaj glared back. "Are you trying to pick a fight with me?"
"Maybe I am!"
"That's a fight you don't want."
"Oh, really? I'll believe that when I see it--"
"BOYS!" Ami screeched. "What the blue h**l? We're in the middle of a war here, and all you two can think about is your egos! Cut the c**p and get back to reality!"
Kadaj backed off, but he kept shooting daggers at Reno, who was not so easily reasoned with. "Ami, I know he's your brother and all, but you heard what he--"
"Reno, shut it," Rude insisted quietly.
"Rude--"
"Glue your d**n trap!" Ami yelled. "We're trying to help, so take your pseudo-chivalry and stick it."
The others returned. "All clear," Loz reported.
"One less inconvenience," Kadaj acknowledged. "Even so, we should continue this love fest somewhere more secure."
