nikky nodded and hopped off. she looked around and pulled out a ring of knives. she searched about, looking for anything outside before going inside casually and looking around.

The place seemed to be completely empty... even the innkeepers, which were all employees under Shinra's payroll, had left. Apparently, no one had wanted to get caught in the crossfire.
However, there was one person sitting in the lobby, tending to another, much smaller person...
This person was on his feet with a blade at Nikky's neck before she could blink.
Kadaj relaxed and pulled it back when he recognized her. "Don't sneak up on me," he warned. He sat back down, a red-eyed Fruxas sitting in the chair opposite him. "That's potentially dangerous."
Rude came in, carrying a comatose Reno over his shoulders.
Kadaj looked slightly amused. "It seems to me that someone needs to lay off the sauce." He glanced over at Fruxas, and the boy giggled weakly before curling up into himself again.
Rude snorted and started carrying his partner to the nearest empty room.

nikky stiffened but then relaxed she nodded. ''sorry... didn't know you were here.'' she looked over at rude as he brought reno in. she pulled up a chair near her and sat down. her mind kept going back to kamen... but she kept denying her gut feeling. she sat thinking, chin on her hands.
kamens soul wandered until he saw the motorcycle. he smiled and his hope came back....

Rude dumped Reno on a bed somewhat unceremoniously. Reno stirred again, starting to come around. Rude stood by the door and waited.
Reno's eyes blinked open. "What in the name of--" He had a splitting headache. He remembered changing the Abomination into stone... after that he blanked out... Musta taken more out of me doing that than I thought.
He turned his head and blinked. "Hey, partner." He had to laugh, but stopped when he realized that made his head throb. "Deja vu, at least for you, right, yo?"
Rude nodded. "You're not as heavy as Cloud, I'll give you that."
Reno shrugged, still unable to summon the nerve to try sitting up. He could see the sun out the window... it wasn't much later than he remembered. "So where's Nikky?"
"Downstairs with Ami's brother," he commented. "I'll go check on her."
He walked off and closed the door behind him.
Reno tried to relax a little and let the pieces of his mind mend... He could feel a vague memory at the back of his brain, but it refused to come into focus...
"Kamen, are you SURE you're OK..."

Kadaj found himself at a loss. The boy had his head buried in his knees with his arms around them... he did not look like he was in the mood to be consoled, but something about those quiet sobs he kept hearing wouldn't leave him alone.
He put a hand on the boy's shoulder, but Fruxas swatted it off without even looking up. Kadaj looked sharply at Nikky. Now what?
The child was in a dark, hopeless world of his own. I failed... I couldn't save my mother... I can't watch over my sister... I don't know where my father is... what can I do now? He had absolutely no idea what his future held... and that scared him to no end. What can I do? He realized he was once again surrounded by strangers...

nikky was thinking over things, not really paying attention to anything or seeing kadaj. she knew something was weird about kamen, but what? she couldn't find anything.... what she really should be doing is helping ami and the others. or at least going up and helping reno... i'm such a terrible fiance...
kamen passed through the door of the inn and looked about. he saw nikky but stopped when he saw she was thinking about things. he frowned but then noticed kadaj.... then fruxas. he blinked then frowned.

The boy's head snapped up. He looked squarely at Kamen. "Hey, who are you?"
Kadaj looked over at the area Fruxas was addressing. "Fruxas... who are you talking to?"
"Him." He pointed.
Kadaj squinted. Still nothing there.
Rude came down to Nikky. "Nikky, Reno saw something suspicious about Kamen. So did I, for that matter. And before he blanked, Reno said... well, sort of, he said it in my head... that Kamen isn't who he says he is anymore. Any idea what he's talking about?"

kamen was taken aback by the boy. he stared before blinking. you can see me?? he seemed now thrilled by the fact that someone could see and hear him. he threw a little party before turning back to fruxas. my names kamen... whats yours? he moved a little closer in a non threatening way. he was curious and hoped the boy could help him... but he steered semi clear of kadaj. he was still a bit weirded around him...even if he couldn't see him.
nikky jumped at his voice but calmed fast. she stared at him before blinking. ''not... really. he used to act funny and all of a sudden get really mean. he would yell at everyone and get abnormally scary. but when he was normal he always would blame it on his master...'' she trailed off, getting a weird feeling.

Fruxas was still pointing when he realized the funny looks he was getting... "I'm Fruxas..."
He pulled his hand back. "No one else can see you?"
He looked around. "Can't ANYbody else see him?" He didn't get it... he could see this person clear as day. How could anyone else NOT see him?
Kadaj tilted his head. Is five too young for a nervous breakdown? "Rude..." He got up and moved over to the Turk, lowering his voice. "Five seconds ago I couldn't get the boy out of his shell... now he is seeing things... I think I'm in over my head here. What do you know about kids?"
Rude shook his head. "That they only start getting interesting around age twelve."
Kadaj facepalmed himself. "Oh, great. So in seven more years you can give me a hand. Perfect."
Fruxas was getting a little impatient. "What's all the racket about? He's right there!" He turned to Nikky. "Can't YOU see him?"
Reno started coming down the stairs, feeling a little groggy... he paused. Something is weird here... I see five people down there... but I could swear I feel six. "Nikky...?"

nikky watched them all confused. she got a weird feeling before clicking the pieces together... ''no...'' she replied. ''but i think i know who it is....'' she stood and walked over, kamen moving out of her way. ''is this person's name kamen?'' she asked gently to the boy, crouching down slightly to look at him.
kamen lingered before feeling reno. he looked over and grinned before running over and hugging him. its me... reno, its kamen. you need to tell them... he let go and looked around, trying to find a way to tell them all....

Reno felt something weird as Kamen threw his arms around him. What the... He wavered slightly, as if something had just impacted with him... he regained his balance...
Fruxas nodded slowly... "Yes... it is... but... why is he hugging that guy?" He pointed at Reno.
Reno stiffened. His head swiveled back and forth slowly. He closed his eyes and smiled serenely. "Kamen, if you're trying to make a pass at me right now, I really don't think I can handle that."
He backed off and went the rest off the way down the stairs. "What the h**k is the matter with you?! Men don't go around hugging men! And what the h**l happened to your body?!" He shuddered and jerked slightly, still feeling altogether icky. "Geez! I'm gonna need therapy after this!"
Fruxas tilted his head. "You're weird."
Reno looked back at him. "This coming from the kid with the cat eyes."
Kadaj stepped forward. "And what, exactly, is wrong with cat eyes?"
Reno grinned sheepishly. "Uh... nothing..."

kamen started laughing. my intentions are only to get your attention... but i tell you now reno. i am not attracted to you. sorry to put a damper on your day... he grinned and my body is back with the others... with my master in my place. he grew more serious now. i came for help... because he tricked you all.... he looked around sadly.
nikky blinked and watched the boys and then renos facial expressions for the jist of the conversation, since both of them could hear but only fruxas could see.

Fruxas shrugged. "He's not hugging you anymore."
"Thanks, I got that," Reno replied sarcastically. "So... your master?!"
Reno tried to look straight at Kamen to underscore his question, but he realized that was a bit of a problem. "Uh..."
"He's over there," Fruxas said, pointing again.
"Thanks." He reoriented himself. "Now what do you mean by, your master tricked us? What does he want your body for? What's so special about it?" He shook his head. "On second thought, maybe I don't want to know."
Kadaj came over to join the boy. "For future reference, it is very rude to point." He tried following the boy's eyeline and still could see nothing... So he can see spirits... I wonder what else he can do. What kind of potential did Xima unlock when she blended the bloodlines?

kamen glanced at the boy, nodding his thanks. he sighed to reno before explaining. my master wants to learn about all of you by taking my body. he can't wander aimlessly like i can. but even now i feel my essence fading and aching. he wants to learn your quwerks and your habits. what you do iun battle, your thought processes. he can also learn when you hesitate and want you dread doing... he then trains himself to fight you and destroy you....'' he seemed worried... and in serious pain. being gone and detatched from his body left him weak and vulnerable.
nikky watched with utter curiosity.
