Reno saw Nikky's fear and felt more confused than ever. If he dies, she'll be torn apart... why the h**l does she care, anyway?! This guy is a creep, he almost KILLED her!
He tried shoving down what he knew had to be jealousy... he knew she loved him, but he couldn't help himself...
Axel, watching through his Other's eyes, fed his jealousy and anger. Come on... hold back your gift and let the boy die... then your luck is all out, and it'll only be a matter of time before whatever is left of your life belongs to me.

Ami held Kamen's hand tight. "Just stay with us. We can save you... give us time..." Her worries about her parents were gone now. Saving this boy had suddenly become important, but she didn't know why... something to do with her brothers.

They rushed into the medic. The doctor set him down on one of the soft beds carefully, then listened for his pulse. "Accelerated." His breathing was aggravated, but at least it was there. "I have a hunch."
He pulled a small vial with purple liquid off of a shelf, then got a syringe and drew a few drops of Kamen's blood. He dropped them into the vial, then waited for a moment. The blood sparked on contact with the liquid, but it sizzled out after a few seconds. "Just as I thought! He has incredibly low bloodsugar! He needs to eat..."
He paused for a moment, then pulled another vial off of the shelf. "This is the only way I can think of to get food into his system. Glucose." He filled a syringe with the potent sugar solution, then injected it into his bloodstream. "He should come to in a few moments..."
He turned the young man's wrist over, examining the symbol. "This is very recent. In fact, it is still hot. Did he brand himself at the firepit just before I got here?" He inquired of those who had followed him.

nikky took a deep breath. this had to be his master doing this... she couldn't help but feel like someone was watching them. she looked around with cold eyes as she followed.
kamen stared at her with pained and glazed eyes. he shook and winced slightly.
after being placed in the bed he chewed his lip and closed his eyes. he layed there helplessly, not having the energy to fight them off.
nikky stared at the symbol... she had seen it before.

Ami kept hanging onto his hand. Just keep talking, give him something to focus on... "Kamen, I'm here. I won't leave you. Stay with us."

Reno watched the insulin injection. Maybe now I won't need to do anything, and it won't matter one way or the other.
His brain stung again. "What the-- What am I supposed to do?!" It took him a second to realize he'd said that out loud.
Rude watched him and observed the conflict. "You've got too big a heart, partner," he remarked sarcastically.
Reno gave Rude a strange look. When did he say that before... oh, yeah, when I set up Elisa to take the fall for Ami. It felt wrong, but I knew it was the only right thing to do.
Reno groaned. "I'm definitely going to regret this."
He stood next to Kamen's bed and, resisting the urge to heave, took his other hand. What now?
Ami met his eyes. She nodded approval. Thanks, Ami... but that really doesn't help.
He closed his eyes and thought hard. OK, unconscious decision... I have to really want this guy to make it... d**n, we're both s***wed. Don't think like that... come on, kid... I'm sure you can hear me swallowing my pride...
He felt something tingling in his head but wasn't sure what to make of it.

kamen forced himself to try and stay awake. his body had calmed but he was still shaking slightly. he could feel renos distress and touched minds with him. you need not help me if you don't want to... i came back to help you guys.... i'm not really what you met before... he glanced at him with his pained eyes before wincing and closing them.
nikky tried to think of any other explanations. she looked to rude, the closest person to her. ''rude...'' she said quietly before pulling up her sleeve. the same mark was on her but it was black.

The doctor stood aside, not pressing the question. He understood that something greater than syringes and bandages was going on, something metaphysical.

Ladjinne's eyes grew large and round at Gdosimirj. You can do magic...? He inched away from her subconciously, then remembered that the doctor has said Kamen needed to eat. He decided to run and get a piece of meat for him in case he came around enough to eat.

kamen accepted the healing without any resistance. he was too weak to resist. he sighed slightly and winced a bit.

Ami could feel some sort of connection between Reno and Kamen going on... She kept her hold on Kamen's hand and moved her free one to Reno's shoulder. Yeah, I'm here for you, too.
She understood her place in this world so clearly now... I have so much strength, in spite of the way I was brought into this world... more than I will ever need. Other people need that strength... and I always have to be where I can give it to them.
She looked ruefully out towards the square. I'm sorry, Mom, Dad... but I can never come home.

But for some reason, the planet says you have to live, and for even more obscure reasons, Nikky wants you to live, too. He sighed. I want you to understand something... you may have changed, but you still nearly took from me the one thing I ever loved. It may not be fair to hold that against you-- you ARE different now, a blind idiot could see that-- but I can't just MAKE myself forget. kamen laughed weakly. oh reno... this is so much bigger than that..... he joked slightly before coughing slightly. i know what i did... it is not the happiest of memories... but by far not the worst. i'm not asking you to be my friend... i just want you to know that i won't hurt you on purpose... but i cannot control what my master does to me... that i will mostlikely never escape from... he faded off, his energy to low for anymore. he trembled and twitched slightly as he fought off something...
nikky sighed. ''it must be his master... it has to be.'' she said quietly. she watched reno curiously.

Reno's indignance flared. First off, don't talk to ME about childish... you're barely even old enough to shave... He felt the kid trail off, and something alien inside him... something even worse than Kamen himself...

kamen slumped slightly, his eyes closing.
your passion to save this boy astounds me... there was a cold chuckle following the icy voice. it didn't come from kamen, nor did he wake up. the boy is mine... and if you really wish for him to be free of this you must hand him over to me... or fight for him. either way you will loose...and as for facing me in the flesh... that is for you to decide. your insulsts have no affect on one who knows that he will win...

nikky had slipped out of the room, she needed fresh air... bad. she took a deep and calming breath as she thought things over. this guy couldn't want her that bad... he seemed more after kamen then anything.
kamen was asleep still...

Axel got within eyesight of the hidden village, peering through the treetop canopy. Hmm... methinks I spy a rather precious little commodity, right out where I can snatch her... all by her lonesome...
He crept closer, not daring to alert the village warriors.
