she frowned slightly, mulling it over. she nodded slightly and yawned. ''that is strange....'' she said quietly before burying her face in his chest slightly. ''you should tell me all of the story when i am awake....'' she knew he was holding back some, she was just too tired to push him into spilling it....
kamen reluctently fell asleep, his head falling to one side lightly.

"Yeah..." He trailed off and yawned, putting his arms around her. My energy level right now is at an all time low...
He was almost asleep before he could even finish the thought.

Ami helped Rude move Dimitri into another cabin to recover. "He ought to be fine after he's had time to rest." Rude watched Ami put the covers over him. "In fact, that generalization might apply to most of us."
Ami wiped her eyes. It was getting late... "We have to figure out where to go now."
"We can stay in orbit long enough to lick our wounds," Rude replied. "Our mental resources are drained... I wouldn't trust myself to make that sort of decision in my current state."
Ami had to agree... she was ready to drop dead where she stood. "I'm going to find an empty cot... and it will become my world for the next several hours."
She left Dimitri to sleep and went looking for a place to collapse.
Rude pulled the cabin door shut behind him and found Squall. "We'll need someone awake for now while the rest of us recover... As you seem to be the most rested one of us, it seems you'll be it."
He found a vacant seat, sat in it, and settled in for a short nap. I can sleep anywhere.
Stephen and Nora looked at him in concern. "Mr. Rude... where are we going now?"
He looked across the passenger area at Ami's parents. "Mrs. Lazuli... you have just asked the million dollar question."
He settled down again. "Your guess is good as mine." He went out like a light.
Ami noticed Squall on her way to a cabin. "Hey," she said tiredly, smiling at him. "Look who's awake."
She gave him a kiss. "I really need to crash. But when I come back around... we have a lot of catching up to do." She kissed him again passionately, giving him an accompanying embrace before moving into a vacant cot in her sister's cabin and settling in to hibernate for a few hours.

nikky smiled slightly and kissed his jaw lightly. ''goodnight reno...'' she whispered.
she glanced over and saw kamen sleeping too. never thought i'd see that... she almost laughed but was too tired. she laid her head back down and fell asleep.
kamen twitched in his sleep but was otherwise left alone.

Kadaj turned to Axel. "Well, you heard Rude tell it. He was under Shinra's thumb for years... he knows what he's talking about. Now do you understand?"
Axel nodded. "I understand that she used me. She took me over, burned me up, and threw me away."
Kadak shrugged. "She's a virus. That's what viruses do."
He gave the spirit a look. "And that would make you, what? The vaccine?"
Kadaj seemed faintly amused. "I suppose you could put it that way." He saw the others settling in to recover from their narrow escape. "Probably a good thing they're sleeping now... G** only knows when they'll be able to again."
He turned to Axel. "We should go. Xima is still out there with her little abomination... her Fruxus." He shook his head. "You'd think she'd be able to come up with something better than that..."
Axel waved it off. "Whatever."
He looked at Nikky, sleeping peacefully, nestled against his counterpart. "I don't know which was worse... being without these feelings when I had no heart... or enduring them now."
He gently stroked her hair, even though he could no longer touch her, and sighed a deep sigh of a spirit wondering what might have been.
Kadaj approached him. "No more time for regrets..." He glanced back towards Ami's cabin. "... for either of us."
They faded away to continue tracking Xima.

Amnesty had hoped for a peaceful rest... but her dreams were plagued by nightmares of what she knew was to come... dreams full of suffering and death and pain... and she at the center of it.
She turned uneasily in her cot, the night terrors unceasing...

nikky slept for a bit, really tired.
kamen woke up with a slight gasp and jerk. he stared around before taking a deep breath and calming himself. he got up slowly and looked around.

While sleeping, Reno's subconscous was on overdrive.
Subconsciously, he wanted the party to recover quickly from their injuries, and as a direct result, their cellular repair was being accelerated at a conspicuous rate, recharging their energy and speeding up their overall recovery. The only catch was, it was wearing Reno out even more, making it thoroughly less likely he would be waking up himself anytime soon.
Oblivious to all this, he merely stirred uncomfortably as the process continued. If anyone had bothered to look, they might have noticed his eyes were faintly glowing green behind his eyelids...
Amnesty woke from her nightmares in a cold sweat. The more she tried to relax, just for a little while, the less she could sleep. It seemed horrific images poured into her mind every time she closed her eyes.
Even so, she was feeling slightly better... she looked at the scratches she had gotten in the fight and was slightly surprised to see they had already mended.
She checked on Lana, still sleeping peacefully and looking altogether less pale and ghastly. She ventured out and took a peek at her parents... though they seemed still worried in their sleep, they too looked as if they had reacquired some energy.
She checked on Rude and Dimitri while she was at it-- both were out, just as unconscious and immobile as very large rocks.
Since we have yet to be boarded, I assume no one has found us yet. She stretched and checked out Reno and Nikky. Nikky was still fast asleep, snug and secure in Reno's arms... but he looked almost as if he'd been having nightmares himself. In fact, he looked more ragged than he had when he went to sleep.
Ami considered that as she noticed Kamen was awake. "Hi there, Kamen... g'mornin'. Ya hungry or something?" She stretched out and waited for him to find his tongue.

kamen looked over and flashed a rare smile. ''good morning ami....'' he yawned slightly. ''and i will only be hungry if you let me get it myself.... and.'' he added with a slight grin. ''if you let me get you something too.... you don't look like you have eaten yet this morning.'' he seemed a bit cheerier and less ghostly. most of the long lost color had returned to his skin.
nikky stirred and snuggled but slept still.

Ami smiled. "Sure, go ahead and get me something. I'm starving. But don't go thinking you'll get to my heart through my stomach... I'm spoken for, mister," she teased.
She sat in one of the vacant chairs and waited for food to come. She closed her eyes and rubbed her temples, wondering whether or not she looked bloodshot... she had gotten a little rest last night, but not enough to dispel the heavy mist of stress and fatigue that had settled on her lately.
With the other inhabitants of the ship mainly patched up at last, Reno finally got to get a little rest for himself... but with all the energy he had used acting as a Lifestream conduit, his likelihood of getting enough rest in the near future was fairly slim.

''no worries ami... my intrests do not lie there...'' he trailed off as he went and got them some food. he laughed at himself once out of ears reach. that was highly awkward.... but hey, i've made a friend.... first one for a few years. its a good start i guess... after a few moments he came back and handed ami some food. he smiled and sat next to her. ''you look tired.... sleep well??'' he sounded slightly concerned. he beat himself inside for being so open now....

She shrugged, but smiled at him in return, seeing that her joke had lightened him up a bit. "Not really... bad dreams." Her face darkened somewhat. "It's not something I'm sure I should share... oy, it was awful."
She munched her food and looked back at him. "It's nice of you to be worried about me, though." Sheez, he keeps reminding me of my brothers, especially my youngest one. He even looks a little like him-- if you squint, that is.
It's nice to see he's coming around... after my brothers started getting depressed, I tried to bring them back around... we all know how well THAT worked out. She swallowed and wiped her mouth with the back of her sleeve. "How about you? Recovering from our little brush with death back there?"

he nodded slowly, watching her. he held himself back from probing her thoughts and into her dreams.
he smiled slightly and shrugged. ''i just thought i'd ask....''
he munched on his food slightly before nodding and laughing lightly. ''yes actually.... but in the end i guess we all could have used the exercise.'' he grinned slightly. ''we need to be on our toes... or we will get lazy and get caught...'' he was serious, but his voice still held some humor. he laughed again and ate a little.

Ami nodded... and did a double take, nearly choking on her food. "How did you--"
She noticed Reno twitch and realized her voice had been piped up to a C above high C. She stopped herself with a little shake. "Never mind... probably just coincidence..." She attempted to recover some of her already fragile equilibrium.
Reno tried to go back to sleep, but the sound of Ami in shock had instinctively put him on full alert. He snuggled back down, and squeezed his eyes shut stubbornly, fighting what he knew was a losing battle.

kamen chuckled lightly and shook his head slightly. he glanced over at the two before sighing. he pulled his sleeve down over the continuously itching tatto/marking. he frowned slightly and sighed again. he laced his fingers together and turned slightly to smile back at ami. ''i hope i didn't cause too much of a shock....'' he tried not to fidget, it was a nervous habit. along with biting his nails.... which he was tempted to do.

Ami watched him strangely. Even the lacing-finger thing. It's crazy. She shook her head. "No, no, that's fine... you didn't do anything." She grinned back at him, feeling slightly silly. "I think I've really gone over the edge this time... but you see..." She coughed slightly into the back of her hand. "Well, I was just thinking about my brothers, and what you said about exercise and staying on our toes-- they used to say almost exactly the same thing to me, all the time. We used to practice fighting together, because we always knew there was the chance Shinra might find us again." She laughed quietly into her food. "I usually lost." She looked over at Kamen. "It just threw me off my stride a little, that's all." She paused. "Maybe you should hear about the dream after all. There are parts of it I understand, and other parts which I'm praying I don't."
Reno worked very hard at closing out the conversation, but it was no use. He decided to just give over and wake up already. He stirred and groaned. What happened to me... I feel like I just acquired the worst hangover in history after running the Tour de France.
He opened his eyes and looked down at Nikky, still asleep and leaning on him. Wonder if I should bother her... nah. At least somebody around here is getting a decent rest. He contented himself with stroking her hair gently, rubbing his bloodshot eyes. I must look like a zombie right now.

kamen smiled weakly. ''i see.... well its just something i've always done i guess....'' he laughed a bit and nodded. ''alright....'' he looked over. ''but if you don't feel like telling me it.... you could always show me?'' he raised a brow slightly. it was an easier option, just in case she wasn't comfortable. but would she trust him in her mind? he tried not to think of the trust part....
