Dimitri was rocked off his crouched position in front of Nikky and went to the viewport, looking out at the lab as it went up in flames.
"Nobody go anywhere!" He shouted, sprinting for the hatch.

Rufus put his hands on her shoulders and pulled away from the kiss, looking into her eyes, then looked at Fruxas, then back at her.
"I think this is a good opportunity to work on your self control..." He said, trying to keep cool, reguardless of his breathing patterns... He'd almost lost his control for a moment there...

nikky rolled her eyes and sat on the floor, she muttered and swore. after a few moments she blinked and looked around. reno? kamen? she looked about quizzically before shrugging. reno must have put him to bed... good, kid needs rest.

She lolled her head back slightly, regarding Rufus with a faint sort of amusement.
Using our son for an excuse to avoid exposing his vulnerability... ha. Already this is starting to feel like a real family, Xima thought to herself sarcastically. Still... I can afford to wait... practically speaking, I really should... now that I KNOW he wants me, our coexistence will work mainly to my advantage.
She sidled backwards and away from him, eyeing him almost placidly, a strange sort of satiation exuding from her. "Oh, my self control is just fine..." She seated herself next to her son, another empty seat next to her on the other side. "I suppose the question would be, whose self control are you really worried about?"
The boy offered up his weapon. "I've finished, Mother."
She inspected it. "Very good, Fruxas... well done."
He smiled at her and handed over the lint cloth, settling down for a nap.
She gently moved some hair out of his face as he drifted off. Motherhood, too, can be an instinct.
She looked sidelong at Rufus. "So it would seem we remain partners for the time being." She smiled at him, a smile of satisfaction... or posession. "As such, I find it behooves me to finally address the topic of where we are headed next." She stretched slightly, pullingher hair out from between her back and the seat.

Rude got up and dusted himself off. He walked over to Tseng's crumpled form and viewed it with a stone-cold glare. "It seems Dimitri's connection with Tseng has worked to our advantage after all," he mused. "Had Tseng not intervened, we all would have followed Xima into the cloning facility... and some of us might not have made it out alive." He nudged his former boss with his foot. "In a bizarre way, we should be thanking him."
He started carrying the fallen Turk to the confinement cell. "I'm going to put our boss to beddy byes, folks." He carried Tseng off...
Ami watched him go. Funny thing, life. She followed Rude as far as the confinement cell door. "Rude, thanks for saving my skin back there... again."
He shrugged. "It's nothing." He began securing Tseng with the shackles they'd found earlier while working with Vieve... a part of the set that she had NOT sawed through.
She nodded... but couldn't help wondering why he was always bailing her out of one scrap or another. She said so.
He shrugged again. "Can't let the girl who's gonna save the world get herself killed, can I?"
She tilted her head curiously. "You actually think I'm gonna save the world?"
"I think it would require effort for you not to... it always seems to put itself into danger in your presence."
She nodded... that was certainly true.

Reno checked on the kid to see how the explosion had affected him... not by much. He checked his pulse... a little weaker than usual, but still going normally. His temperature was way too low, but he could think of no way to fix that...
Except...
"Yo, Ami!" She's gonna kill me.

nikky yawned and sprawled out in a corner on the floor. she streched and then curled up like a cat.
kamen lay motionless, his mental activity at bear minimum.

Rufus seated himself next to them.
"We're heading back to my mansion... They wont dare go near it now." He said, and wiped the side of his face off, he was still bleeding.
"This sort of thing will not be happening anymore I hope you know." He said, still angry about it. "I wont stand for it."

Dimitri groaned and let himself collapse against a corridor wall, sliding down into a seated position there. Had it not been for the dreams, he could have gone to sleep right there...

Ami answered Reno. "What?"
He took a deep breath. "You're going to mop the floor with me."
"Spit it out, Red."
He groaned. "Look, Kamen is flat out in there, and his circulation is next to nonexistent. He's gonna freeze out, go into shock, unless somebody does something."
"Like what?"
Reno shrugged helplessly.
Ami could see where THIS was going... "Oh, no, you're nuts..."
"All you gotta do is lay there right next to him! That's it!"
Ami shook her head. "No, no, non. Ask Nikky to do it."
Reno squinted at her. "Uhm... no."
Ami stood firm. "Why not?"
"Because she--"
Ami interrupted. "Is your girlfriend. And I'm Squall's! Things between us have been weird enough lately, and my alter ego just carved a hole in his ship... he catches me in there, in BED with another guy for whatever reason, and I'm dead in the water."
He sighed. "But you're supposed to be the NICE one!"
"I've had enough self-sacrifice for one day, thank you." She stomped off.
Reno sighed. "Great."
He looked around and shook his head. This is nuts. "Oh, Nikky..."

Xima watched Rufus benignly, more tame than he'd ever seen her. "Then I suppose I should be very glad I took advantage of it while it lasted," she whispered, to avoid waking Fruxas... and to make her voice just that much more alluring. "Because, I'm not sure about you... but I quite enjoyed myself." She leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes, taking a chance on relaxation... tilting her head back to expose her neck, her silver hair falling over her shoulders... She looked at Rufus through half-closed eyes. "If you want my opinion, you are really far too stiff for a man your age... but then, who am I to talk." She let her head roll to the side, gazing at Fruxas. "A mother, bent on world domination... and physically, I'm only sixteen." She smiled to herself. "I suppose you could call me a motivated young woman." She looked back at Rufus.

nikky made a slight groan as his voice stirred her from her catnap. she got up and walked over, eybrow raised lazily. ''yeah....?''
kamen shivered slightly but grew no colder.

Rufus smirked, shaking his head as the chopper headed back towards the mansion, he could already tell this was going to be one hell of a relationship... business or otherwise...

Reno was ready to urk up his guts, but he held it together. "Nikky, Kamen's not in good shape... I have to ask you to do something weird for him, all right?" He cringed. "Ugh, please don't take this the wrong way..."

Ami went to the hatch, its seals and hinges carved all to h**l by Xima's antics... Fantastic. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse... We have abjectly failed to do anything we set out to do here, and on top of that, now we need to repair the ship. S**t.
Rude came up behind her, Tseng securely locked away. "Well, Ami?" What is it? I know that look... that's the 'at least things can't get worse' look."
She rolled her eyes. "We got to get this thing repaired, and there's not a repairman around for Lord knows how many miles..."
Rude coughed politely.
Ami did a double take. "You can fix this?"
He shrugged. "If Squall has the parts. I'll ask him."
He moved off towards the room he'd last seen Squall in. "Hey, Cap? The door needs patching. Got any spare parts floating around?"
Ami moved off to be alone in the thingpit... the last thing she wanted now was a lot of questions from anybody. She just wanted to sort out this mess and lay new plans...

nikky blinked at him as she woke up slowly. she tried to think of why he was so weirded. ''alright... ask away reno.'' she made a funny face as she peeked around to look at kamen. he slept awkwardly, a cold sweat forming.

He ran a hand over his face. "Oy, here it goes..." He looked at Nikky wearily. "I need you to lay next to the guy and keep him warm or he's gonna freeze up altogther, and I'm thinking after you're done I'm going to go take up self-mutilation or something... Oh, geez, just forget it!" He got up and was about to storm off and forget the whole thing, until he realized, suddenly his hands were looking older again... He sighed. I gotta keep him alive to keep ME alive. If he goes down, I go with him. He looked back at Nikky one more time. "OK, OK... he's in serious danger of slipping off on us, and if somebody doesn't keep his system from going into deep freeze, there's a real possibility he won't make it." His stomach churned. "Can you do it, Nikky?" I'm gonna throw up.

nikky watched him curiously and wondered why he was making such a big deal out of it. she thought it over before slowly smiling and kissing him softly. ''of course i will, reno. its not like i'm going to go cheat on him or something....'' she laughed softly and kissed him again. ''it could be worse... i know i would NEVER share a bed with that old stiff rude.'' she laughed to brighten him up. ''plus i'll get a chance to get some sleep....''

He smiled at the the sentiment... "I know you wouldn't cheat on me. But d**n if I'm not jealous... he gets to be in bed with you ahead of me." He shook his head to show he was just joking. He kissed her again, long and deep, before helping her stand. "Thanks, Nikky..." He wasn't quite sure how to tell her how important this was to him... "It's important that we keep this kid alive. He's a creep, but..." He shrugged. "Hey, Ami likes him, right?" He tried to laugh it off and hoped she wouldn't get suspicious. "You know, everybody Ami likes winds up being some kind of a hero or something... so maybe we better keep an eye on him, yeah?" He hugged Nikky and tried to not think about all this too hard...

nikky laughed before kissing him back passionately. after the kiss she listened and nodded before grinning. ''you never know... hes still really young, he could actually make it without going all evil on us.'' she hugged him back and closed her eyes. ''it'll be okay reno....'' you don't have to lie to me. i want to know everything that pertains to you. so why do you keep it from me? please don't do this forever.....

He held her back, tightening his arms around her. I hope so. Oh, G**, I hope so. I hate keeping this secret from you... if anything, I could use your sympathy now... but I wouldn't be able to stand the look in your eyes if I told you I might have to leave you... right after I promised I never would...
He just held her for a while, wanting to be comforted. He felt like a little kid or something, caught in the rain and wanting someone to come bring him inside...
You have to go into the house yourself. Nobody's gonna come out and get you...
He shook his head. Not true. Nikky did, but I went back out into the rain to keep her dry. He took a deep breath. "Well, he isn't getting any warmer, huh?"
He pulled back and took her hand, leading her to Kamen. He still looked as pale and tired as ever...
He squeezed her hand. "Looks like you got your work cut out for you." He smiled at her. "Do your thing."
